Impact White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Hendriks was not available Wednesday, after the closer threw 39 pitches for the final five outs in Tuesday's win. La Russa added it's possible he won't be ready for Thursday's afternoon game. Craig Kimbrel is ready to pitch the ninth inning should a save situation arise.

Impact After a rough two-game stretch against the Yankees last week, Hendriks closed the door on the Athletics for the second straight appearance. The closer told Scott Merkin of MLB.com that, through the unlikely help of his wife, he noticed he was tipping pitches. Following his wife's suggestion, Hendriks studied video and noticed a tell, which led to an adjustment. He's struck out six without giving up a hit over 2.2 innings since.

Impact Hendriks was knocked around by the middle of the New York lineup in the top of the ninth inning, with two-run blasts by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton turning a 7-4 Chicago lead into an 8-7 deficit. Fortunately for Hendriks, Tim Anderson responded with a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame, securing the right-hander's seventh relief win of the season. The longball has been an issue all year for Hendriks, who has now allowed 10 of them in 49.2 innings, his most since becoming a full-time reliever in 2015. He has blown six of his 32 save opportunities while logging a 3.08 ERA and 0.79 WHIP.
