Rejoins rotation Royals manager Mike Matheny said Bubic will start Friday's game against the Tigers, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Impact Bubic opened the second half in a bullpen role for Kansas City, but he'll reclaim a spot in the rotation after the Royals placed Danny Duffy (forearm) and Brady Singer (shoulder) on the injured list Tuesday. After Singer lasted only two innings in his most recent start Saturday, Bubic impressed in long relief, giving up one run on two hits and three walks while striking out five in six frames. Bubic is thus sufficiently stretched out to handle a starter's workload as he slots back into the rotation.

Impact Bubic previously lined up to take the ball for the series finale, but Kansas City will turn to Carlos Hernandez instead. Bubic could be an option out of the bullpen Sunday, though the club has yet to comment on that possibility. The left-hander has struggled mightily in both relief and starting roles dating back to June 6, allowing 29 earned runs on 41 hits across 27 innings. It's unclear at this point what his role will be following the All-Star break, if he has one at all with the big club.
