Starling Marte - Pops first homer in win
Marte went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Twins.
Impact
Drawing the start at designated hitter versus southpaw Connor Prielipp, Marte lifted his first homer of the campaign Sunday. The left-handed-hitting Carter Jensen should continue to serve as Kansas City's primary DH, but Marte could see an uptick in at-bats in right field until Jac Caglianone (shoulder) returns to action. Even so, Marte is slashing a pedestrian .258/.315/.348 with four extra-base hits, five RBI, five runs scored and no stolen bases over 73 plate appearances.

Lucas Erceg - Survives for 12th save
Erceg secured the save Saturday against the Twins, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Impact
The Royals first turned to Beck Way to close out a 6-1 game in the ninth inning, but the hurler gave up ended up giving up four runs to create a save opportunity. Erceg did surrender a pair of singles Sunday, though he eventually got Brooks Lee to fly out and extinguish the fire. Erceg, who has fallen into a closer committee with Kansas City due to his MLB-worst six blown saves, has a 6.00 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB with 12 saves across 24 frames.

Noah Cameron - Resurgence continues in third win
Cameron (3-4) notched the win Sunday against the Twins, allowing one unearned run on three hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out seven.
Impact
Cameron had posted a 5.55 ERA over his first seven starts of the year, but he's been a much different pitcher as of late. The 26-year-old southpaw has logged four quality starts across his previous five outings, during which he boasts a sparkling 1.80 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 31:3 K:BB covering 30 innings. Cameron, who now has an improved 3.84 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 63:17 K:BB over 65.2 frames overall, will hope to keep the good times rolling at home versus the Astros his next time out.

Bobby Witt Jr. - Dealing with right knee injury
Witt was removed from Sunday's game against Minnesota due to right knee soreness.
Impact
It's unclear when the injury cropped up, but Witt was taken out of the game in the seventh inning and was replaced by Michael Massey. Witt went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts prior to his exit, and he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury. The Royals have an off-day Monday, so the 25-year-old shortstop will aim to be available for Tuesday's home game against the Rangers.

Bobby Witt Jr. - Exits Sunday's game
Witt (undisclosed) was removed from Sunday's game against the Twins, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Impact
Witt was removed from the game in the seventh inning with the Royals holding a 5-1 lead. It's not clear why he was pulled, but the Royals should have an update on the superstar shortstop during or shortly after Sunday's game. Michael Massey is in the game at second base, with Maikel Garcia and Nick Loftin shifting to shortstop and third base, respectively.

Salvador Perez - Nursing thumb injury
Perez is not in Sunday's lineup against the Twins due to a right thumb injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Perez sustained the injury on a wild pitch that hit him in the right thumb in Friday's contest. He'll end up sitting for the last two games of the series against Minnesota, but with an off-day Monday, the Royals are hopeful that Perez will be back in action for Tuesday's series opener against Texas. Carter Jensen will start at catcher for Sunday's game.

Carter Jensen - Launches eighth homer
Jensen went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Twins.
Impact
Jensen accounted for much of the Royals' offensive production, blasting a leadoff homer in the first inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the ninth frame. Despite Saturday's productive moments, he's hitting .087 (2-for-23) with 10 strikeouts across six appearances in June. It has been a lackluster campaign thus far for the 22-year-old, as he's slashing .211/.286/.381 with eight homers, nine doubles, 30 RBI and 25 runs across 60 games while splitting time behind the plate and at designated hitter.

Alex Lange - Notches third save
Lange gave up a hit and struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his third save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Twins.
Impact
Royals manager Matt Quatraro suggested earlier this week that he would be playing matchups in closing situations while Lucas Erceg worked through his struggles, but since then Lange has gotten three straight saves, with Saturday's coming when Kody Clemens, a left-handed power hitter, was leading off the ninth for the Twins and representing the tying run. Lange has been scored upon just once in his last 12 appearances, posting a 0.75 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB in 12 innings, and he appears to have seized the top spot in the Kansas City bullpen.

Luinder Avila - Stingy in no-decision
Avila didn't factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over five innings in a 3-2 victory over the Twins. He struck out three.
Impact
The 24-year-old right-hander was lifted after 70 effective pitches (46 strikes) with the score tied 1-1, denying Avila his second win of the season. He's looked good since rejoining the Royals in late April, posting a 2.84 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 22:15 K:BB through 25.1 innings over his last 10 appearances (three starts). Avila will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is set to come at home next weekend against the Astros.

Jac Caglianone - Exits with shoulder injury
Caglianone was removed from Saturday's game against the Twins with right shoulder soreness.
Impact
Caglianone crashed shoulder-first into the side wall in right field during Friday's contest, and he seemingly aggravated his shoulder while striking out during his at-bat in the first inning Saturday. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the Royals could provide more details on his status after the game.
