Impact Teng generated a season-high 13 whiffs on his 91 pitches Friday and matched his season high with seven strikeouts. Over his last three outings, all starts since entering the rotation full time, Teng has racked up 20 strikeouts across 16 innings. However, walks have been a problem, issuing 11 free passes during that span. The home run ball was an issue against Milwaukee, as Teng surrendered a solo homer and two-run shot for his only allowed runs. Since becoming a member of the Houston rotation, Teng has yielded six runs on 12 hits and 12 walks with 21 strikeouts across 19 innings.

Teng sits at a 2.61 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 31 innings this season and is expected to be a part of the Astros' six-man rotation in the short term. Part of six-man rotation Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Teng will be part of a six-man rotation moving forward, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Impact Circumstances could alter things down the line, but for now Houston plans a six-man setup indefinitely. Espada said that he expects Teng -- who threw 63 pitches over three innings in a start Sunday in Cincinnati -- to be able to handle 80-to-85 pitches in Saturday's start versus the Rangers. Teng holds a 3.12 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB over 26 innings covering two starts and 13 relief outings this season.

Impact Teng has been great since moving into the bullpen, posting a 2.35 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with a 22:7 K:BB through 23 innings. The Astros are running thin on starters, however, so they'll pencil the 27-year-old in for his second start of the season. He hasn't recorded more than nine outs in an appearance yet this year, so he'll likely remain in Sunday's contest for a handful of innings before turning things over to the bullpen.

Impact Teng had made a three-inning start in his previous appearance Tuesday in Baltimore, but despite a doubleheader Thursday creating a need for the Astros to go with a temporary six-man rotation, the right-hander ended up moving back to the bullpen. He's been one of the Astros' standout relief arms this season, logging a 2.00 ERA and holding batters to a .145 average over 18 innings out of the bullpen.

Impact Kicking off a bullpen day for Houston, Teng lasted a season-high 42 pitches (30 strikes) before being lifted, with Ryan Weiss piggybacking him for another 3.2 frames. The right-hander made seven starts last season for the Giants and was deployed mostly as a starting pitcher in the minors, so it shouldn't be a big deal to get stretched back out. However, with Tatsuya Imai (arm) poised to return soon, Teng's stint in the rotation could be brief.
