Strong again Wednesday Rogers allowed a hit, a walk and two hit batters while striking out six in five shutout innings versus Miami on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.

Impact Washington blew three leads in the contest, but none came on Rogers' watch. Outside of some wildness -- he threw 44 of 73 pitches for strikes -- it was a productive third start for the 27-year-old. He's produced a 2.60 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB across 17.1 innings so far. Rogers has likely done enough to warrant remaining in Washington's rotation at least for the rest of the season. He projects for a rematch in Miami next week.

Impact Unsurprisingly, Rogers will be rewarded with his third turn through the Washington rotation after he turned in his first career quality start his last time out Friday. He worked 6.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk. Rogers only struck out one in the outing, and his inability to make bats miss -- he sports a weak 8.9 percent swinging-strike rate through two starts -- renders him a low-upside fantasy option.

Impact The 27-year-old was technically optioned back to Triple-A Rochester after the completion of the twin bill, but he's been added back to the major-league roster with Gerardo Parra (knee) heading to the injured list. Rogers started Game 2 of the doubleheader and picked up the win after allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts across 5.2 innings. He's unlikely to remain in the rotation but should be in the mix to pitch should Washington require a spot starter.

Impact Added to the 40-man roster and designated as the 29th man for the twin bill, Rogers will take the ball for his first big-league start since 2018. The lefty packs very little in terms of a strikeout punch (63 strikeouts in 90.1 innings at Triple-A this season), but he also doesn't hurt himself with walks. Rogers managed a 7-3 record, 3.70 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with Triple-A Rochester after being cut loose by the Orioles at the end of May.

Impact Kyle McGowin (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster for Rogers, who will be the designated 29th man for the Nationals' twin bill against the Mets on Saturday. Rogers, a 27-year-old southpaw, struggled to a 7.79 ERA at Triple-A Norfolk before being released by Orioles at the end of May. He's turned it around since joining Rochester, posting a 3.70 ERA in 14 appearances (13 starts), albeit with only 49 strikeouts in 73 innings.
