Impact Miranda is without a clear path to everyday playing time, but the Twins should continue to carve out a part-time role for the rookie while he's swinging a hot bat. Though he'll be on the bench Tuesday, Miranda had started in six of the Twins' past seven games while going 6-for-22 with two home runs, a double, two walks, seven RBI and three runs.

Impact Miranda launched a fourth-inning blast that scored Carlos Correa and Jorge Polanco. It was Miranda's seventh home run of the year and his second in his last four games. The infielder has four total hits and only one strikeout during that span. The outing helped bring his season batting average up to .243.

Impact Miranda will pick up his third start in a row and has now replaced Gio Urshela at third base on two of those occasions. Now that the Twins have nearly all of their key everyday players back from the injured list, the hot corner looks as though it could represent Miranda's most realistic path to consistent playing time moving forward. Urshela still remains atop the depth chart, but Miranda has outperformed him since the rookie was called up from Triple-A St. Paul on May 30. In the month-plus since that time, Miranda has produced an .824 OPS, a mark 89 points higher than Urshela's.

He's had an inconsistent role in the lineup since Alex Kirilloff returned, though, Miranda has started three consecutive games during which he's tallied four hits with four RBI and a run scored. Overall, Miranda is hitting .240/.275/.418 across 153 plate appearances on the season.

The rookie has indirectly benefited from the Twins missing some lineup regulars in the past couple of weeks, but as long as Jorge Polanco's sore back doesn't force him to the 10-day injured list, Miranda could be moving to a part-time role soon.

Impact Miranda ripped an RBI single off Nestor Cortes in the bottom of the fourth frame before later adding a double, a run and a two-RBI single. It was the third time in his last four starts where he's recorded multiple hits, going 8-for-16 with two homers, two doubles, seven RBI and four runs in those contests. With Carlos Correa now back in the fold following a stint on the COVID list, it may be difficult for Miranda to start on a consistent basis, but his recent stretch has certainly helped his chances to crack the lineup.

Impact Miranda has produced three home runs while batting .318 over his last six starts, but his playing time could grow more scarce with Max Kepler recently returning from the restricted list and with Carlos Correa (illness) on track to come off the COVID-19-related injured list Wednesday. The rookie will be taking a seat Tuesday for only the third time in the Twins' last nine contests.

Impact The rookie launched a solo shot off Yusei Kikuchi in the second innings and a two-run blast off Trevor Richards in the sixth as part of a five-homer night for the Twins' offense. Miranda has four hits in 14 at-bats since returning to the majors May 30, with three of them leaving the yard, but his five strikeouts over that stretch remain the biggest obstacle between the 23-year-old and a regular role in the big leagues.

Miranda hit a very disappointing .164/.200/.284 in 19 games prior to his demotion, but that brief stretch isn't enough to conclude that he doesn't have what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

Miranda will have to pick up the pace at the plate to ensure he sticks as a regular in the lineup, however, as he's off to a 1-for-13 start to his big-league career.
