The Toronto Blue Jays meet the New York Yankees with a 1-0 series lead
APRIL 6, 2024 • Associated Press
Done for season Loaisiga (elbow) has been ruled out for the rest of the season, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Impact The Yankees do not think it is a serious elbow injury, per Hoch, but he will still be sent to New York for an MRI. Loaisiga has dealt with durability issues his whole career, with 2021 representing the only year he logged over 50 MLB innings. He finishes 2023 with a 3.06 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and six strikeouts in 17.2 innings.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Back on IL with sore elbow Loaisiga was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Sept. 10, with right elbow inflammation.
Impact Loaisiga missed four months earlier this season with the same injury and is now on the shelf again. He will be eligible to return during the final week of the season, but he and the Yankees might decide it's best to shut things down for the year at this point. Loaisiga has shown the ability to be a dynamic late-inning relief arm when healthy, but he's dealt with numerous shoulder and elbow issues the last few seasons.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Comes back from IL The Yankees reinstated Loaisiga (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Monday.
Impact In order to open up a spot for Loaisiga on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated right-hander Deivi Garcia for assignment. Loaisiga is back with the Yankees for the first time since early April, when he was shut down due to a bone spur in his right elbow. He ultimately required surgery but was cleared to start a throwing program in mid-June before being sent out for a rehab assignment July 30. Loaisiga pitched well in his three rehab appearances and has served as a high-leverage reliever for the Yankees when healthy over the past three seasons, but manager Aaron Boone could look to ease the right-hander back into the bullpen with a few lower-pressure innings before deploying him as a setup man.
AUGUST 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Expected back Monday Loaisiga (elbow) will likely be activated from the injured list Monday, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Impact Loaisiga was placed on the IL in early April due to right elbow inflammation and has remained there since. The right-handed reliever has been rehabbing in the minors since late July and most recently tossed an inning Friday, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three batters. Despite that rough outing, Loaisiga appears ready to rejoin a Yankees bullpen that has posted easily the best collective ERA (3.07) in the majors this season.
AUGUST 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to return next week Loaisiga (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list early next week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Impact Loaisiga began his rehab assignment Sunday at Single-A Tampa, striking out two over two perfect innings. He'll move his rehab to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday for his second appearance, and he could get one final tune-up outing in the minors this weekend. If Loaisiga's surgically repaired elbow checks out OK, he'll likely rejoin the New York bullpen at some point during the club's upcoming three-game series versus the White Sox.
AUGUST 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Beginning assignment Sunday Loaisiga (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Impact Loaisiga underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow in May and will likely make several appearances in the minors before returning to the Yankees' bullpen. The 28-year-old only made three appearances before landing on the IL, surrendering one run across 3.1 innings.
JULY 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Nearing rehab assignment Loaisiga (elbow) could begin a minor-league rehab assignment as early as Saturday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Impact The right-hander faced live batters, including Aaron Judge (toe), on Sunday, and he's now on the cusp of game action. Loaisiga underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow in early May, so he'll likely require at least a few appearances in the minors before rejoining the Yankees.
JULY 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Set to face live hitters soon Loaisiga (elbow) is close to throwing a live bullpen session, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Loaisiga underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow in early May and was subsequently moved to the 60-day IL. The righty reliever began a throwing program in mid-June and recently progressed to mound work. Throwing to live hitters will represent another step forward in Loaisiga's recovery, and a minor-league rehab stint may follow soon thereafter. There is a possibility that Loaisiga could return to the big-league bullpen before the end of July.
JULY 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to mound work Loaisiga (elbow) completed a 10-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Impact Loaisiga started up his throwing program in mid-June and returned to the mound Sunday for the first time since he underwent surgery in early May to remove a bone spur from his right elbow. The 28-year-old is already eligible to be activated from the 60-day IL, but he's likely still at least a few weeks away from rejoining the active roster.
JULY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Begins throwing program Loaisiga (elbow) started a throwing program earlier this week, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Loaisiga is just doing light games of catch for now, but it's an encouraging step forward following several weeks of rest and rehab. He has been out since early April due to an elbow injury that eventually required arthroscopic surgery in early May. The 28-year-old right-hander could be an option for the Yankees again in the second half.
JUNE 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Moved to 60-day IL The Yankees transferred Loaisiga (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Impact This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Ryan Weber, who is joining the Yankees' bullpen ahead of their four-game series against the AL East-leading Rays. Loaisiga underwent surgery earlier this month to remove a bone spur from his right elbow and is expected to be sidelined until late in the 2023 season.

Yankees' injury woes: Carlos Rodón suffers setback, two relievers shelved
Having surgery to remove bone spur Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced Monday that Loaisiga will undergo surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow and be shut down from throwing, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com rep...
Impact Loasiga felt renewed soreness in his elbow, and the right-hander will be shut down for three-to-six weeks from throwing after the operation. It's now likely that the Yankees won't have Loasiga available as a late-inning option until the end of June, and there's a chance the 28-year-old won't be available until around the All-Star break.

APRIL 29, 2023 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM
Visiting doctor on Monday Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that the MRI Loaisiga underwent before Friday's game against the Rangers revealed "nothing structurally alarming," but he isn't throwing...
Impact Loaisiga had been experiencing renewed soreness in this elbow, and while the MRI doesn't appear to suggest there's no structural damage for the right-hander, it's concerning enough that the reliever will visit with Dr. Ahmad on Monday. Loasiga has been on the injured list since near the start of April, and has no clear timetable for a potential return.
APRIL 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Undergoing testing on elbow Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Loaisiga will undergo testing after experiencing soreness on his right elbow, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
Impact Loaisiga felt renewed soreness in his right elbow after throwing Wednesday, and the Yankees will undergo the testing to see if there's any structural damage. The right-hander has been on the injured list since April 6 with inflammation in his elbow, and he isn't likely to return in the coming weeks even if the tests reveal no new damage.
APRIL 28, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Renewed soreness after throwing Loaisiga (elbow) felt renewed soreness after throwing Wednesday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
Impact Loaisiga had been doing daily flat-ground throwing sessions, but that's on pause for now as the Yankees try to determine the severity of this setback. The 28-year-old reliever has been on the injured list since April 6 due to right elbow inflammation and there is no current timetable for his return. It's likely to be at least a couple more weeks.
APRIL 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Throws on flat ground Loaisiga (elbow) did some flat-ground throwing at Yankee Stadium on Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Impact It's his first time playing catch since he landed on the injured list with right elbow inflammation two weeks ago. Loaisiga will continue to ramp things up as long as he feels well and is tracking toward an early-May return.
APRIL 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
To resume throwing this week Loaisiga (elbow) expects to resume throwing Thursday or Friday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
Impact Thursday would be the two-week mark of Loaisiga landing on the injured list with right elbow inflammation and it appears he's feeling better. The reliever will likely need to go out on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Yankees' bullpen.
APRIL 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Won't throw for a few weeks Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters before Saturday's game against the Orioles that Loaisiga (elbow) won't resume throwing for a few weeks, Gary Phillips of the New York Dai...
Impact Boone also told reporters that Loaisiga has swelling in his joint and received an injection, but there's no structural damage. The right-hander will likely need a rehab assignment once cleared to throw, and probably won't be able to help the New York bullpen until the start of May at the earliest.
APRIL 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Out with elbow inflammation Loaisiga was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to April 6, with right elbow inflammation.
Impact The 28-year-old presumably picked up the injury during his last appearance Wednesday versus Philadelphia when he allowed a run on two hits over 1.2 innings. The severity of the injury isn't known, but the fact it's an elbow issue makes it seem unlikely Loaisiga is ticketed for a minimum-length stay on the shelf.
APRIL 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Unscored upon in Grapefruit League Loaisiga tossed five scoreless innings in Grapefruit League play, allowing three hits and posting a 4:2 K:BB.
Impact Loaisiga also pitched in two games for Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic, allowing three runs on three hits over two frames. The right-hander collected two saves and 10 holds for New York in 2022 and is expected to compete for setup duties ahead of closer Clay Holmes during the coming campaign.
