Goes to IL with hip inflammation The White Sox placed Cannon of the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right hip inflammation.
Impact Cannon had to be pulled from Sunday's start against the Royals due to the injury in what was his first outing of the season in the majors. The injury should heal with rest, but it's unclear when Cannon might be game-ready again and it's not a given that he'll rejoin the big-league rotation when he's physically ready.
5 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with hip issue Cannon exited Sunday's contest against the Royals in the bottom of the third inning with right hip irritation, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact Cannon entered the game with the White Sox up 2-0 with runners on first and second, but ended up walking all three batters he faced before leaving due to injury. The right-hander was making his first appearance of the season, and his status will likely receive an update in the near future.
APRIL 12 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled, slated for bulk relief The White Sox recalled Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
Impact Right-hander Grant Taylor is slated to open the game for the White Sox, but he'll presumably be limited to an inning or two before giving way to Cannon, who is projected to work in bulk relief. Cannon will be stepping into to the rotation spot vacated by Opening Day starter Shane Smith, who was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday. Through two starts with Charlotte this season, Cannon covered 8.2 innings and struck out 10 batters while allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits and four walks.
APRIL 12 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to be called up Sunday The White Sox are planning to summon Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte to serve in bulk relief against the Royals on Sunday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Impact Cannon was unable to break camp with Chicago and has struggled in two starts with Charlotte so far, allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits while posting a 10:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings. However, the White Sox appear set to have Cannon work at least a few innings Sunday behind opener Grant Taylor. Duncan Davitt is likely to be sent down to the minors to make space on the 26-man roster for Cannon, per Fegan.
APRIL 11 • ROTOWIRE
Dispatched to Triple-A The White Sox optioned Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact Cannon was competing for one of Chicago's final rotation spots, but he'll instead open the season in the minors, as Erick Fedde appears poised to begin the campaign with the White Sox. The 25-year-old Cannon made 17 starts for the White Sox last season and appeared in 22 total regular-season games, producing a 5.82 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 86:38 K:BB across 103.2 innings.
MARCH 17 • ROTOWIRE
Competing for rotation spot Cannon is competing for a rotation spot during spring training, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact Cannon began the 2025 season in the White Sox's rotation but was demoted to the bullpen and also had a stint in the minors in the second half of the campaign. Merkin suggests the White Sox have as many as 10 pitchers competing for rotation spots, and Cannon's chances of securing a role to begin the season may not be very strong after Chicago added Anthony Kay, Erick Fedde and Sean Newcomb this offseason. Nevertheless, he'll get his first chance to improve his chances in Friday's Cactus League debut against the Cubs.

Hit hard in bulk-relief loss Cannon (4-10) took the loss Wednesday against the Yankees, surrendering five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 4.1 innings.
Impact Cannon entered in the first inning after opener Fraser Ellard walked the bases loaded, and he managed to escape the jam quickly by striking out Paul Goldschmidt. However, the right-hander quickly unraveled, giving up back-to-back multi-run frames that included a three-run homer to Aaron Judge in the second. The long ball marked the seventh Cannon has allowed in his last five starts, a brutal stretch in which he's posted a 13.50 ERA across 18.2 innings while giving up at least five runs in every outing and taking three losses. The 25-year-old now owns a 5.87 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 84:38 K:BB across 102.2 innings this season.

Back with big club The White Sox recalled Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Impact Cannon takes the 26-man roster spot of Wikelman Gonzalez after he was placed on the 15-day IL with a right elbow impingement. Cannon has appeared in 20 games for Chicago this season, making 17 starts, and owns a 5.67 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 78:37 K:BB across 98.1 innings.

SEPTEMBER 6, 2025 • SUNTIMES.COM
Demoted to Triple-A The White Sox optioned Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Impact Cannon was just recalled Thursday but will head back to the minors a day later after being touched up for five runs over 2.1 innings in a bulk relief appearance. The righty has managed just a 5.67 ERA across 17 starts and three relief outings for the White Sox this season.
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Rocked in bulk-relief outing Cannon allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings versus the Twins on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Cannon pitched out of the bullpen, following 1.1 scoreless innings from opener Fraser Ellard. Cannon's struggles mostly came in the fourth inning, but the White Sox were ultimately able to overcome them and went on to win 11-8. The right-hander's 2025 had some promising moments in the first half, but he's now allowed 25 runs (24 earned) over 21.1 innings across his last five appearances. This outing may not have been enough to give him another turn through the rotation. Overall, Cannon has a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 78:37 K:BB through 98.1 innings across 20 appearances (17 starts).
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Back up for bulk relief duty The White Sox recalled Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
Impact Cannon is scheduled to serve as the bulk reliever in Thursday's game against the Twins. The right-hander has made 17 starts and two relief appearances for Chicago this season, posting a 5.34 ERA and 76:35 K:BB over 96 innings.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Thursday The White Sox will recall Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte to start Thursday's game against the Twins, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact Cannon owns a 5.34 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 96 innings in the majors, but he's set to make his return to Chicago to fill the vacancy in the Sox's starting rotation. The 25-year-old will get to face a Twins offense that sports a .696 OPS since the beginning of August, but he shouldn't be viewed as a reliable fantasy option after giving up at least five earned runs in each of his last three big-league outings.
