Late addition to Monday's lineup Clase will start in left field and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Yankees.

Impact Clase had been on track to open Monday's contest in a reserve role, but he'll end up starting as a result of the lineup reshuffling that was created by Bo Bichette (knee) being scratched. The 23-year-old will pick up his fourth start in five games, but he'll likely see his opportunities dwindle once one or both of Daulton Varsho (hamstring) or Anthony Santander (shoulder) return from the injured list.

Getting night off Clase is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Impact The switch-hitting Clase had started in three of the past four games, but he'll hit the bench Monday while Davis Schneider replaces him in left field as the Yankees send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump. Though injuries to Daulton Varsho (hamstring) and Anthony Santander (shoulder) have cleared the way for Clase to earn more playing time in the outfield, the 23-year-old hasn't been able to capitalize on the opportunities. He's hitting just .155/.234/.259 over 21 games in June.

Sitting against RHP again Clase is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Impact Clase had mostly been occupying the strong side of a platoon in center field since Daulton Varsho (hamstring) landed on the injured list June 1, but Myles Straw will stick in the lineup for a second straight matchup versus a right-handed pitcher (Adrian Houser). Clase has produced a .464 OPS in June, and though Straw hasn't been any better at the plate over that stretch (.433 OPS), his superior defense may be tipping the scales in his favor.
