Settles for no-decision Saturday
Cueto didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 8-6 loss to the Pirates, allowing two runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.
Impact
The veteran righty got handed an early lead and held the Bucs scoreless for four innings, but Cueto benefited from two double plays behind him and when his luck finally ran out in the fifth, he got the hook. It's the second straight start in which he's given up eight hits while failing to complete five innings, and Cueto will take a 3.62 ERA and 22:5 K:BB through 27.1 innings into his next outing.

Shelled in first loss
Cueto (2-1) allowed five earned runs on eights hits and one walk while striking out two across three innings, taking the loss to the Padres on Sunday.
Impact
Cueto's first start coming off the 10-day injured list was not a friendly one. He surrendered a pair of home runs to Jake Cronenworth and Fernando Tatis in the four-run second inning. In three April starts, the 35-year-old held a 1.80 ERA and 0.85 WHIP with 18 strikeouts. He did not allow any home runs. Sunday was not the case however, as he was chased out of the game in just three innings pitched. Cueto will look to get back on track Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Activated to start Sunday
Cueto (late) was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday and will start against the Padres, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 35-year-old has officially rejoined the active roster after spending the past three-plus weeks on the injured list. Cueto was off to a strong start in 2021 with a 1.80 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB through 20 innings, and he'll attempt to pick up where he left off now that's recovered from the lat strain.

Rejoining rotation Sunday
Giants manager Gabe Kapler confirmed that Cueto (lat) would be activated from the 10-day injured list over the weekend to start Sunday's game against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of N...
Impact
The Giants have previously earmarked this upcoming Sunday as Cueto's most likely return date when he was shut down with the Grade 1 right lat strain in mid-April, so his rehab program appears to have unfolded as expected. Since Cueto hasn't pitched in a game in three weeks, the Giants could be conservative with his workload Sunday, so fantasy managers may want to hold off on activating him right away. Cueto's impending return will likely result in Aaron Sanchez or Logan Webb losing out on a starting role, assuming Kapler doesn't choose to expand the rotation to six men.
