Takes no-decision in short outing Cantillo allowed four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.
Impact Cantillo got off to a rough start, giving up a two-run home run to Brent Rooker in the first inning. Things didn't get much better for Cantillo after that, and he departed the game after 69 pitches (40 strikes), falling short of the five-inning mark for the third time in seven outings this season. He's now allowed five homers over his last four games. The southpaw is at a 3.67 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 36:16 K:BB over 34.1 innings, showcasing strikeout upside and mid-rotation potential despite some occasional inconsistency. His next start is projected to be on the road versus the Royals.

Stuck with first loss Cantillo (1-1) took the loss Saturday as the Guardians were downed 5-3 by the Blue Jays, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out four.
Impact The left-hander held Toronto scoreless for three innings before getting tagged for a solo shot by Kazuma Okamoto in the fourth, but Cantillo ran out of gas in the sixth, putting the first two batters aboard before getting the hook after 89 pitches (60 strikes) and watching both come around to score. Cantillo has completed six innings just once this season in six trips to the mound as he continues to have trouble staying effective deeper into games, and he'll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB through 30.1 innings into his next outing, which is set to come on the road next weekend against the A's.

Falls apart after strong opening Cantillo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Orioles, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 4.2 innings.
Impact Cantillo was in control early, holding Baltimore to just two hits through four innings, but unraveled in the fifth. He allowed the first two batters to reach before Taylor Ward launched a three-run homer to left, and additional traffic forced his exit before he could complete the inning. The rough frame was an outlier compared to his strong start to the season, where he fanned 24 across 20.2 innings. Despite the stumble, Cantillo still owns a 3.20 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 30:12 K:BB across 25.1 innings and is lined up to face Toronto in his next outing.

Posts quality start in no-decision Cantillo did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings.
Impact Cantillo gave up a solo homer to Ivan Herrera after opening the game with a strikeout, and JJ Wetherholt also took him deep in the third, but the left-hander settled in nicely from there. He finished his outing with three scoreless frames and gave Cleveland his first quality start of the season. Cantillo has quietly been one of the more consistent starters early this season, allowing two or fewer runs in all four of his outings while piling up 24 strikeouts across 20.2 innings. The 26-year-old will look to keep rolling in his next scheduled start at home against a dangerous Baltimore lineup that ranks near the top of the league in several offensive categories.

Fans nine in first win of year Cantillo (1-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 10-2 rout of the Royals, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out nine.
Impact The southpaw dominated over 88 pitches (54 strikes), racking up 32 called or swinging strikes along the way. Cantillo fell just short of his first quality start of 2026, but he's had an impressive beginning to the campaign, posting a 2.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB through 14.2 innings over three outings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come on the road early next week in St. Louis.

Works to no-decision Cantillo didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Cubs, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six.
Impact Cantillo's second start went better than his first. After only making it to the fourth inning in his season debut, he worked into the sixth inning Friday and limited a Cubs offense that averaged five runs per game entering play to just one. The 26-year-old has now pitched exactly nine innings on the season and sports a 3.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 11 strikeouts and five walks. His next scheduled start will come against the Royals on Wednesday.

Mixed results in season debut Cantillo allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Saturday.
Impact Cantillo wasn't hit all that hard, as one of the four hits against him was an infield single and the only extra-base hit he gave up was a second-inning double. However, he walked three batters and needed 91 pitches to get through just 3.2 frames. Cantillo did manage a healthy five punchouts after posting a 10.2 K/9 in each of his first two big-league seasons, so fantasy managers weren't left entirely out to dry by his short outing. The southpaw's next start is tentatively slated to take place at home against Chicago next Friday.

Makes fourth spring start Cantillo allowed three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out six over 4.2 innings in Friday's spring start against the Angels.
Impact Cantillo had a couple of shaky stretches but overall pitched well in his fourth Cactus League start. He opened the game by issuing a walk to Zach Neto and then balked him to second before the runner eventually scored. The lefty then retired the next eight batters before allowing two-run home run in the fourth inning, which he followed by setting down the next five batters before leaving the game after throwing 74 pitches (45 strikes). Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt is still evaluating Cantillo, Logan Allen, Slade Cecconi and Parker Messick for the final three spots in the rotation.

Delivers best spring outing Cantillo allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four over 4.2 innings in Sunday's spring start against the Rockies.
Impact Cantillo was at his most efficient in his fourth Cactus League outing, as the young left-hander submitted his best effort in a quest for a spot in the Guardians rotation. Prior to Sunday's appearances, Cantillo had allowed nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. There's time left for two or three more starts for Cantillo, who is competing with two other lefties, Parker Messick and Logan Allen, and right-hander Slade Cecconi.

Rocky spring continues Cantillo allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out one over 1.1 innings in Thursday's spring start against the Mariners.
Impact Cantillo, competing for a spot in the Guardians' rotation, had a second consecutive rough Cactus League outing. He worked his pitch count to 47 (29 strikes) but for the second straight start, the left-hander was pulled early in the first inning so that he could return for the second. Three first-inning doubles results in two runs, then a second-inning fielding error, compounded by a walk and a single, led to two unearned runs. Cantillo has allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk over 2.2 spring innings.

Hiccups in spring debut Cantillo allowed two runs on three hits while striking out two over 1.1 innings in Saturday's spring start against the Brewers.
Impact Cantillo started a split-squad game to begin his candidacy for one of three available spots in Cleveland's rotation. After giving up two hits and a run in the first inning, the left-hander was removed to ensure he could get a second up-and-down. Cantillo then allowed a home run to lead off the second frame but was able to build his pitch count to 33 (22 strikes). He is competing with Logan Allen, who started the Guardians' other game Saturday, Slade Cecconi and Parker Messick.
