Productive from leadoff spot again Pederson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 12-3 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Pederson batted leadoff for the third straight game and set the tone for the easy win, starting the contest with a home run against Carlos Martinez, his second of the year. The outfielder is starting to look comfortable in a Chicago uniform after a slow start, and he has plenty of fantasy value as long as he's atop the batting order.

Pederson, Happ, lead Hendricks, Cubs over Cardinals 12-3

Joc Pederson homered on the first pitch of the game, Ian Happ got two hits during an eight-run burst in the eighth inning and the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 12-3

Gathers two more hits in win Pederson went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Thursday's win over the Nationals.
Impact For the second game in a row and sixth time in the last nine contests, Pederson recorded two or more hits. Perhaps more importantly, the outfielder has batted leadoff in consecutive games as well. The Cubs started the season with Ian Happ in that role and have also used Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras there. If Pederson can stick in the top spot, he should get more at-bats overall and could see an uptick in runs.

Reaches base three times in loss Pederson went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals.
Impact Pederson didn't come around to score in the 4-3 loss, but it was otherwise an effective night for the leadoff hitter. After a slow start to the season, including some missed time due to a wrist injury, the outfielder is batting an even .400 this month. Pederson may continue to sit against tough lefties, but it looks like he should produce good stats when he's in the lineup for the Cubs.

Sits against southpaw Pederson will be on the bench against lefty Patrick Corbin and the Nationals on Tuesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Impact Pederson has started five times against lefties this season but will hit the bench Tuesday as the Cubs face their second southpaw in a row. Matt Duffy starts in left field in his absence.
MAY 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not starting Monday Pederson isn't starting Monday's game against the Nationals.
Impact Pederson went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Sunday's win over the Tigers. Kris Bryant will start in left field while Matt Duffy starts at third base.

MAY 16, 2021 • Associated Press
Three hits in Friday's win Pederson went 3-for-4 in Friday's 4-2 win over the Tigers.
Impact All three knocks were singles, but it was still Pederson's fourth straight multi-hit performance. The hot streak has pushed the outfielder's slash line to .268/.354/.341 through 24 games, but he has only one homer, eight runs and nine RBI.

Plates lone run Wednesday Pederson went 3-for-5 with an RBI double in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to Cleveland.
Impact Pederson hit an RBI double in the fifth inning, but that was the extent of the Cubs' run-scoring Wednesday. The 29-year-old Pederson has been on a tear lately, going 12-for-25 (.480) with five RBI and three runs scored in his last six games. The surge has lifted his season slash line to .244/.337/.321 with one home run, nine RBI and eight runs scored in 92 plate appearances. Pederson entered Wednesday with a .319 BABIP, indicating he's had some poor luck at the plate so far.

Tallies three hits in loss Pederson went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in a 6-5 loss to the Pirates on Sunday.
Impact Pederson didn't even start Sunday but ended up playing the whole game almost the whole game after Jake Marisnick injured his hamstring in the first inning while chasing down a fly ball. The 29-year-old was slashing just .077/.143/.077 against lefties this season but got to Tyler Anderson for an RBI single in the second inning and another base hit in the fourth. He has now had three hits in two of his last three games and could be a regular fixture in the lineup with the Cubs' outfield depth suffering badly.

Chicago hosts Pittsburgh, aims to build on Davies' solid showing

Chicago looks to follow up a dominant performance by Friday starter Zach Davies
MAY 8, 2021 • Associated Press
Tallies three hits Friday Pederson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Pirates.
Impact Pederson scored the Cubs' first run of the game on a fielding error in the bottom of the first inning, and he drove in a run with a single to right field in the second. Pederson has now appeared in three games since he returned from the 10-day injured list, and he's gone 4-for-9 with two RBI, two runs and two walks during that time.
