Could be limited to DH early Sanchez, who is dealing with elbow inflammation, might be used as the Marlins' regular DH to begin the season, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact The elbow issue isn't expected to force Sanchez to the IL for Opening Day, but Miami might limit how much time the 27-year-old sees in the outfield until he's 100 percent healthy. Sanchez saw a career-high 537 plate appearances in 2024, turning that workload into 18 homers, 16 steals, 64 RBI and 60 runs along with a .252/.313/.417 slash line, and he's being counted on to fill a key spot in the Marlins' batting order.
FEBRUARY 22, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Will get some reps in center field Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Tuesday that Sanchez (elbow) will play some center field during spring training, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Impact Sanchez didn't play center field at all in 2024, but he started six games there in 2023 and 74 games at the position in 2022. The 27-year-old is still likely to see most of his action in right field in 2025, but it's possible he's used in center field on occasion. Derek Hill and Dane Myers are expected to see most of the reps in center field for the Marlins. Sanchez is currently overcoming right elbow inflammation but is expected to be cleared for full activities soon.
FEBRUARY 18, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Recovering from elbow inflammation Sanchez is recovering from right elbow inflammation, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Sanchez's hitting has continue uninterrupted and he is in the final stages of a throwing program, so it sounds like this is just a minor speed bump. The 27-year-old is projected to open the 2025 campaign as the Marlins' primary right fielder and should bat in the middle of the lineup.
FEBRUARY 17, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Agrees to deal with Miami The Marlins and Sanchez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Sanchez was in his first year of arbitration eligibility. The 27-year-old slashed .252/.313/.417with career highs in home runs (18) and stolen bases (16) in 2024.

Swipes bag, reaches four times Sanchez went 3-for-6 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings win over Minnesota.
Impact Sanchez drew a walk in the fifth and then reached on singles in each of his next three trips to the plate but was left stranded on each occasion. He was, however, able to swipe his 15th bag of the season and his fifth in the month of September while also extending his hitting streak to five games. Furthermore, it marked Sanchez's eighth game this season in which he tallied three or more hits. On the downside, he's now struck out multiple times in three straight contests.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Five hits in win Sanchez went 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 11-9 win over the Dodgers.
Impact Sanchez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning before extending Miami's lead to 3-0 with another base hit in the second. The outfielder would add a third RBI with a double in the fourth en route to his first career five-hit game. The 26-year-old Sanchez had gone just 1-for-16 in five contests coming into Tuesday. He's slashing .252/.309/.424 with 17 homers, 62 RBI, 52 runs scored and 14 stolen bases across 489 plate appearances this season.

SEPTEMBER 13, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Out against left-hander Sanchez is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Nationals.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Rejoining lineup Friday Sanchez (back) is batting cleanup as the designated hitter Friday against the Phillies, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Impact The 26-year-old sat out one game after he exited Tuesday's contest due to back spasms, but he's back in the lineup following Thursday's team off day. Sanchez is hitting .379 (11-for-29) with a double, two homers, three steals, 10 RBI and three runs in his past 10 games.
SEPTEMBER 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Wednesday's lineup Sanchez (back) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.
Impact Sanchez had to depart Tuesday's contest with mild back spasms. He's expected to be fine, but with southpaw MacKenzie Gore on the hill for Washington, it makes sense for the left-handed hitting Sanchez to take the day to rest. Kyle Stowers and Griffin Conine will hold down the corner outfield spots for the Marlins.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Exits early Tuesday Sanchez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Nationals due to mild back spasms, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Impact Sanchez lined a single into center field in the second inning but had to be removed after tweaking his back while stealing second base. His injury is being described as mild, however, so there's still a chance he returns to the Marlins' lineup Wednesday.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Exits early Tuesday Sanchez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Nationals due to an apparent injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Sanchez lined a single into center field in the second inning but had to be removed after suffering an injury while stealing second base. The details of his injury remain unknown, though any missed games for the 26-year-old outfielder would likely result in more playing time for Derek Hill or David Hensley.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Swipes 11th bag Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Impact The 26-year-old was batting third as the DH and swiped his career-high 11th bag of the year in the sixth inning. Sanchez is on a roll heading into the final month of the season, slashing .281/.338/.516 over his last 18 games with four homers, three stolen bases, 10 runs and 15 RBI, and he's already established new career highs in home runs (17), runs (46) and RBI (57) as well.
SEPTEMBER 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Resting versus LHP Sanchez isn't in the Marlins' lineup Friday versus the Giants.
Impact Left-hander Blake Snell will toe the slab for San Francisco, so the left-handed bat of Sanchez will step out of Miami's starting nine Friday. David Hensley will get the starting nod in right field instead and bat sixth.

Launches 480-foot blast Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's loss to the Reds.
Impact Sanchez hammered one off reliever Jakob Junis in the sixth inning for his 13th home run this season. Sanchez's 480-foot homer wasn't even the longest of his career, as he hit one 496 feet back in May of 2022. The 26-year-old broke out of a stretch of 11 games without a homer, and since the Marlins latest fire sale at the trade deadline, he's one of the few potent bats remaining in their lineup, hitting .241 with a .703 OPS through 103 games this season.
