Impact Less than a week after he was optioned to the minors, Burger will be rejoining the White Sox after Yoan Moncada was placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 oblique strain. Though the addition of Burger adds some reinforcement at third base, the 26-year-old won't necessarily be in store for a full-time role while Moncada is out. The Tigers are bringing a lefty (Eduardo Rodriguez) to the mound Friday, so the righty-hitting Burger could just be included in the lineup due to the platoon advantage being in his favor. Per Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago, Andrew Vaughn was seen taking reps at the hot corner during Thursday's team workout and could be an option at the position, while utility man Leury Garcia may also factor into the equation at third base.

Yoan Moncada has Burger's spot at the hot corner blocked off for the foreseeable future, while Andrew Vaughn and Gavin Sheets are stuck battling for at-bats at designated hitter as long as Jose Abreu remains the team's first baseman.

Impact Burger posted a strong .807 OPS over a 15-game stint with the White Sox in July before being optioned to Triple-A when the big club didn't have regular playing time available for him following Eloy Jimenez's return from the 60-day injured list. Upon returning to Charlotte, the 25-year-old third baseman played in just four games before going down with the injury. The White Sox haven't provided a timeline for Burger, but given the nature of his injury, he should have a good chance to return to action for Charlotte before the end of the minor-league season.
