Cristian Javier - Three hitless innings in relief Javier tossed three shutout innings in relief, striking out five and hitting two batters in a 3-2 loss Wednesday in Arizona.
Impact Javier made his second appearance of the year out of the bullpen for Houston. The 25-year-old has now struck out eight of the 17 batters he's faced this year. The Astros frequently used Javier for more than one inning in relief last season and appear to have the same plan for the beginning part of 2022.

Chas McCormick - Three hits in loss McCormick went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a 3-2 loss Wednesday in Arizona.
Impact McCormick singled in his final three trips to the plate. He batted seventh and started in center field, moving to left in the 10th when Jose Siri took over in center. The 26-year-old has started four of the first six games for Houston and recorded at least one hit in each start. Last season, he made at least 20 starts at each of the three outfield spots but has yet to appear in right field in a game this season.

Ryan Pressly - Blows save, loses Pressly (0-1) gave up two runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks in 0.1 innings in a 3-2 loss Wednesday in Arizona.
Impact Pressly entered in the 10th with the Astros leading 2-1. The automatic runner was sacrificed to third and then driven in on a single by Seth Beer. Following two walks, Ketel Marte walked it off with a sacrifice fly that was misplayed by leftfielder Chas McCormick, preventing any chance of a play at the plate. Pressly had been a perfect 3-for-3 in save chances to start the season.

Jose Altuve - Singles twice, steals Altuve went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in a 3-2 loss Wednesday in Arizona.
Impact Altuve singled to lead off the first and sixth innings but was left stranded in both cases. It was the second stolen base of the year for the seven-time All-Star. After recording only one hit in his first four games, the multi-hit performance is a hopeful sign moving forward. He has now reached base safely twice in consecutive games.

Merrill Kelly - Holds Houston scoreless Kelly struck out six in 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks in a 3-2 win Wednesday over Houston. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Kelly has not allowed a run in either of his two starts, striking out 13 in 9.1 innings. Not known as a strikeout pitcher, the 33-year-old also struck out 13 batters in seven scoreless innings of work in the spring. Time will tell if Kelly's recent increase in velocity is here to stay and will continue to result in more strikeouts. His next start is likely early next week in Washington.
