Impact Davis has drawn consecutive starts for the first time since mid-April, with Joey Bart serving as designated hitter in the absence of Oneil Cruz (back). It may be unfair to judge Davis based on his sporadic playing time, but his ugly performance in the majors has continued in 2025 as he is hitting only .135/.220/.216 across 42 plate appearances. The lone positive is that he's striking out just 16.7 percent of the time, nearly half of his 29.2 percent rate in 415 big-league plate appearances.

Bart has made enough progress with his recovery to resume catching duties in Thursday's series finale, and assuming he steers clear of setbacks moving forward, he should see the bulk of the starts moving forward.

Impact Davis opened the scoring in the fifth inning, when he took a 92 mph fastball from Mitchell Parker deep to left field for a 392-foot solo homer. It was the first major-league home run of Davis' career, and he drove in another run in the fifth frame on a groundout to third base. With Joey Bart (back) day-to-day, Davis has started in four of the Pirates' last five games. Impact Davis will rejoin the Pirates to provide the big-league roster with some security behind the plate while Joey Bart manages a back injury. With a career .590 OPS, Davis has struggled to find his footing in the majors, but he's batting .281 with two RBI and five runs scored through eight Triple-A contests.
