Suffers loss in quality start
Marquez (6-10) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in a 5-1 loss against the Cardinals. He struck out four.
Impact
Marquez earned the quality start but was not good enough to earn the win as he was outdueled by Jordan Montgomery. The quality start is his sixth in his last seven starts as he is turning things around on the season. He will take a 5.05 ERA and 1.43 WHIP into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for next week against Texas.

Quality start in no-decision
Marquez allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six in six innings in an 8-6 victory over St. Louis. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact
Marquez faced one over the minimum through the first three innings, erasing one of the two hits allowed with a double play. In the fourth, Nolan Gorman put a 1-2 pitch in the seats to lead off and Corey Dickerson drove in a run on a single. The rest of the way, Marquez pitched around trouble and kept the Cardinals off the board. The 27-year-old appears to have figured something out of late and has a 3.11 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB in 37.2 innings over his last six starts. His next outing will likely be in the middle of next week in St. Louis.

Logs no-decision in quality start
Marquez didn't factor into the decision during Friday's 6-5 loss to Arizona, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings.
Impact
Marquez limited the damage to single runs in the first and fourth innings and was in line for the win until Alex Colome surrendered the lead in the eighth. The 27-year-old has now fired quality starts in four of his last five outings, during which he's pitched to 3.16 ERA across 31.1 innings to lower his season mark from 5.90 to 5.18. In addition to the 5.18 ERA, Marquez possesses a 1.41 WHIP with 98 strikeouts in 121.2 innings across 21 starts. He's currently scheduled to take the mound again versus St. Louis midweek.

Loses to Dodgers
Marquez (6-9) allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Dodgers.
Impact
Marquez's problems with the Dodgers continued, as he's now allowed 15 runs (14 earned) in 22.1 innings against the NL West leaders this year. The right-hander's stretch of three straight quality starts came to an end Sunday in his second consecutive loss. For the season, Marquez has a 5.29 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 95:40 K:BB across 115.2 innings in 20 starts. He's projected for a road start in Arizona next week.

Unlucky loss Tuesday
Marquez (6-8) allowed a run on seven hits and a walk while striking out six in six innings, taking the hard-luck loss Tuesday versus the White Sox.
Impact
This was just the third time all year Marquez has limited the opposition to one run or fewer, but he ended up with nothing to show for it as the Rockies' bats were kept quiet. This was also his third straight quality start. The 27-year-old right-hander has a 5.25 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 91:38 K:BB across 109.2 innings, but he's been trending in the right direction lately. He's lined up for a home start versus the Dodgers this weekend -- they've put up 10 runs in 16.1 innings across three starts against Marquez this season.

Plenty of support in win
Marquez (6-7) earned the win Friday over the Pirates. He allowed two runs on six hits and struck out four in 6.2 innings.
Impact
The Pirates had three doubles among their six hits against Marquez, but the right-hander was able to limit the damage well. The Rockies' offense took care of the rest, allowing Marquez to exit with a 7-2 lead that only grew from there. This was his third quality start in his last five outings, and the two that weren't came against the division-leading Dodgers. He's pitched to a 5.47 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 85:37 K:BB across 103.2 innings in 18 starts this season.

Goes seven strong innings in win
Marquez (5-7) earned the win during Sunday's 3-2 victory over Arizona, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.
Impact
Marquez settled down after surrendering a Ketel Marte solo homer in the first inning to retire 12 straight and permitted an additional run on three baserunners in the sixth. It was a nice rebound for the 27-year-old after allowing nine total runs during consecutive losses to the Dodgers during his last two starts, and the quality start was his sixth in 17 tries. The successful performance lowered Marquez's ERA and WHIP to 5.66 and 1.47 respectively and he lines up to start again next weekend versus Pittsburgh.

Takes loss against Dodgers
Marquez (4-7) allowed four runs on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in six innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Dodgers.
Impact
Marquez wasn't bothered by a cut on his thumb that abbreviated his previous start, as he threw 104 pitches (65 strikes) in Tuesday's outing. He still had trouble with the opponent, allowing home runs to Max Muncy and Mookie Betts in consecutive innings to take his second straight loss to the Dodgers. The right-hander has given up nine runs in his last 9.1 innings. Marquez has a 5.90 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 77:35 K:BB across 90 innings overall this year. He's projected for a road start in Arizona this weekend.
