Heading to bullpen Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Richards would move to the bullpen in advance of Wednesday's game against the Rays, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Impact With rookie Tanner Houck excelling through his five big-league starts this season and with Chris Sale (elbow) set to return from the 60-day injured list Saturday, the Red Sox won't have room in the rotation for Richards. Aside from eating innings for Boston, Richards hasn't looked like a worthy MLB starter this season, compiling a 5.22 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and a 7.1 K/9 in 22 outings. He could find more success in relief while working with a pared-down repertoire, but the Red Sox are likely to deploy him in low-leverage spots initially.
