Confirmed for Monday's start Hernandez (forearm) will start Monday against Anaheim, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Hernandez was forced to exit his final start of spring training prematurely after he was hit in his throwing arm by a line drive. However, the issue won't cost him any time to begin the regular season. Hernandez has regularly been sidelined by injury early in his career, though he has shown significant promise across the last two campaigns by posting an 87:19 K:BB across a combined 77.1 frames.

Escapes with bruised forearm Hernandez was diagnosed with a bruised right forearm after he exited Tuesday's Grapefruit League start against the Cardinals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Hernandez was fortunate to avoid a more serious injury after his throwing arm was on the receiving end of a line drive off the bat of Tyler O'Neill that had an exit velocity of more than 105 miles per hour. Assuming Hernandez isn't dealing with too much soreness from the bruised arm during a scheduled bullpen session later in the week, he should still be part of the Marlins' season-opening rotation. Hernandez was tentatively lined up to start the Marlins' third game of the season Sunday in San Francisco, but he could be pushed to the back of the rotation order if manager Don Mattingly wants to give the right-hander more time to heal up.

Impact Facing his third batter of the day, O'Neill scorched a ball up the middle at 105.4 mph that caromed off Hernandez to third baseman Brian Anderson. The pitcher was immediately evaluated by a trainer and removed from the game. Hernandez is projected for a spot at the back of the Marlins' rotation to begin the season and was having a good spring, but as yet there's no word on the severity this injury.

Dealing to begin spring Hernandez gave up one hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.

Impact He entered the game in the fourth inning after Trevor Rogers got the start, and Hernandez promptly fanned Nolan Arenado to begin his day. The 26-year-old right-hander has yet to allow a run so far this spring and has a 6:0 K:BB through five innings as he looks to establish himself as a reliable arm at the back of the Marlins' talent-laden rotation.

Signs one-year deal Hernandez and the Marlins agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.325 million contract Tuesday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Hernandez gets a raise in his first year of arbitration eligibility despite the fact that he's coming off an injury-filled year. Biceps and quad injuries sent him to the 60-day injured list twice, but he recorded a respectable 4.18 ERA in 11 starts when healthy.
