Sal Frelick - Swats first homer of year Frelick went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Tigers.
Impact The 24-year-old outfielder took Keider Montero deep in the sixth inning for a solo shot, and the afternoon's final run, as he drove a changeup up in the zone 408 feet to right-center field. It was Frelick's first long ball of the season, but he's had an impressive beginning to the season without big-time power, slashing .318/.408/.455 through 19 games with five steals, six RBI and 11 runs.

Jose Quintana - Stifles Tigers for second win Quintana (2-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over Detroit, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.
Impact The veteran southpaw couldn't match the seven scoreless innings he tossed in his season debut, but Quintana was still sharp in his second outing of 2025. He tossed 58 of 100 pitches for strikes, including 20 called strikes as he kept Tigers hitters guessing. Quintana will take a 0.71 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB through his first 12.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in San Francisco.

Spencer Torkelson - Goes deep in loss Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Brewers.
Impact As was the case Sunday, when the Tigers fell 5-1 to the Twins, Torkelson provided all of the team's offense with a solo shot. The slugger is now up to six home runs through 18 games, and if he keeps up this level of production and stays relatively healthy, Torkelson has a good shot to surpass the career high of 31 home runs he posted back in 2023.
APRIL 16 ROTOWIRE
Keider Montero - Takes loss in first 2025 start Montero (0-1) allowed five runs on eight hits across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Brewers. He walked one and struck out eight.
Impact Montero, who was recalled from Triple-A Toledo earlier Wednesday for the spot start, struggled to keep the ball in the park during his 2025 MLB debut. The righty was tagged for home runs by Christian Yelich, Rhys Hoskins and Sal Frelick. The eight strikeouts were at least one bright spot for Montero, as he only recorded a 7.0 K/9 during his 2024 rookie season. He'll likely now return to the minors, as the Tigers were simply giving their other starters a bit of extra rest and don't have any injuries in the rotation.
