Impact McCosky noted that Cobb was "throwing it OK," but moving off the mound seemed to be a problem. What that means exactly for Cobb's timetable is uncertain, but the right-hander will have to field his position without issue before being cleared to pitch in games. Cobb has been shelved since February after being diagnosed with inflammation in his surgically repaired right hip.

Impact The hits were Hicklen's first as a big-leaguer, with this being his 10th game in the majors over parts of three seasons. This was his Tigers debut after he failed to appear in a game during a brief stint in the majors in April. The Tigers are dealing with injuries in the outfield, but it's unclear if Hicklen will get a longer look. He started in center field in the nightcap of Thursday's doubleheader, but that's been where Javier Baez has been playing -- and excelling -- in recent weeks.

Impact The lefty-hitting Keith was out of the lineup versus southpaw Kyle Freeland in Game 1. In the nightcap, Keith started at second and batted third, giving Gleyber Torres a chance to rest his legs as the designated hitter. Keith is coming around in limited action -- all four of his homers this season have come over his last eight games, a span in which he's 8-for-23 (.348) with eight RBI. The infielder is batting .215 with a .714 OPS, 11 RBI, 17 runs scored and no stolen bases across 35 games this season. He continues to see action as a strong-side platoon option at first base, second base and designated hitter.

Impact Starters Casey Mize and Montero combined to cover 14 of the 18 innings in the twin bill, with Montero doing an excellent job to preserve the bullpen in the nightcap. He was efficient as well, throwing 66 of 92 pitches for strikes, though Beau Brieske handled the ninth inning of the 11-1 win. Over four major-league starts, Montero has a 4.15 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 15:10 K:BB across 21.2 innings. While he didn't impress in his first two starts of the season, he's been positive as a spot starter in doubleheaders recently and should be the first man up if there's an opening in the Tigers' rotation. However, it's expected he'll return to Triple-A Toledo shortly after being the 27th man for Thursday's doubleheader.
