Tyler Owens - Heading back to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Owens to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.
Impact
Owens appeared in two games out of the Tigers' bullpen since being recalled from Triple-A on May 1 and allowed one hit and no walks while striking out one batter over two innings. He'll head back to Triple-A in order to make room on the Tigers' 26-man roster for Beau Brieske (ankle), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. Owens should get another chance in the majors this season when Detroit needs to add depth to its bullpen.

The Tigers activated Brieske (ankle) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.
Impact
Brieske landed on the 15-day IL on April 18 due to right ankle inflammation. He made one rehab outing with High-A West Michigan on Wednesday, when he struck out two batters in a scoreless inning without allowing a hit or walk. To make room on the 26-man roster, the Tigers optioned Tyler Owens to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

Tyler Holton - Scoops up second win Friday
Holton (2-2) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Friday's 9-1 victory over the Angels. He struck out one.
Impact
Holton worked the eighth inning with the game tied 1-1, then benefitted from an eight-run explosion by the Tigers in the ninth to earn his second win of the year. The lefty led all Detroit relievers with seven regular-season wins in 2024, and he also posted a strong 2.19 ERA across a team-high 94.1 innings out of the bullpen. Holton has been effective once again in 2025, registering a 2.76 ERA and 16 strikeouts through 16.1 innings so far.

Tarik Skubal - Settles for no-decision Friday
Skubal allowed one run on four hits over six innings but did not factor into the decision in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels. He struck out eight.
Impact
Skubal pitched well enough to earn his fourth win of the year, but Detroit didn't score until a single run came across in the seventh inning followed by eight more in the ninth. The lefty ace has been dominant once again in 2025, posting a stellar 2.21 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 across seven starts. The ERA would actually be a new career best for Skubal, as it's slightly below the 2.39 figure he posted during his 2024 AL Cy Young campaign. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is penciled in for Thursday against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Javier Báez - Crushes home run in win
Baez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels.
Impact
After hitting zero home runs in his first 24 appearances this season, Baez has now gone deep in three straight games. The 32-year-old, who has settled in as Detroit's primary center fielder recently, has had a nice bounceback season with a .300 batting average and .804 OPS across 27 contests. Baez batted just .184 with a .515 OPS during the regular season in 2024.

Trey Sweeney - Lifts off in win
Sweeney went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels.
Impact
Sweeney hit his second home run of the season in the seventh inning, which at the time tied the game at 1-1 before the Tigers exploded for eight runs in the ninth. The shortstop is riding a modest three-game hitting streak, though he hasn't had a multi-hit performance since April 18, which has kept him from building much momentum.

Colt Keith - Goes deep in big win
Keith went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels.
Impact
It looked like another tough game for Keith, as he was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts prior to the ninth inning Friday, but he managed to salvage the night with his second home run of the season. The young infielder is still batting just .182 for the season, though he's been a little better lately with both of his long balls coming over his last three contests.
