Impact Carroll hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning and added a two-run homer one inning later as Arizona romped to victory. With three homers over his last six games, it's possible the outfielder is building toward a strong second half. For the season, he has just five long balls to go with a .213/.300/.335 slash line, 32 RBI, 60 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, 16 doubles and six triples over 93 contests.

Impact Carroll is batting just .186 (8-for-43) in July, but he's posted four extra-base hits and four steals over 10 contests this month. The outfielder is now 18-for-23 on the basepaths this season. He's also at a poor .210/.297/.316 slash line with three home runs, 26 RBI and 57 runs scored over 92 games for the year.

The MRI seems to have validated Carroll's optimism, and though he looks set to avoid a stint on the injured list and will rejoin the team, the Diamondbacks could still hold him out of the lineup for Tuesday's series opener if he's still dealing with some discomfort.
