Kevin Herget - Outrighted to Louisville Herget accepted an assignment and was sent outright to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Impact After being designated for assignment Monday to clear space for Joey Votto's return, Herget will stay put in the Reds organization. The 32-year-old righty holds a 10.66 ERA and 2.79 WHIP through 12.2 frames in Louisville this season.

Connor Kaiser - Sent back to Triple-A Kaiser was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

Impact He was only up with the big club for a few days before getting a ticket back to Triple-A. Kaiser, 26, slashed .278/.376/.506 with seven home runs and six steals in 50 games in the Pacific Coast League.

Ezequiel Tovar - Reinstated Thursday Tovar was reinstated from the paternity list Thursday.

Impact The Rockies are off Thursday, but Tovar should be back in the lineup Friday at home against the Angels. He is hitting .299 with three home runs and one steal in 17 games this month.

Daniel Bard - Takes first loss Bard (3-1) allowed two earned runs on two walks and three hits while striking out one to take the loss Wednesday against the Reds.

Impact Bard entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the score knotted at 3-3. He served up a two-run home run to the third batter he faced and ultimately escaped further damage by striking out TJ Friedl with the bases loaded. Bard has walked a tightrope most of the season -- indicated by his 1.52 WHIP and 8.0 BB/9 -- but has still managed to maintain a 1.52 ERA. As long as he continues to let runners on base at that clip, he'll likely be on the outside looking in for save opportunities.

Elehuris Montero - Smacks second homer Montero went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Reds.

Impact Montero had the opportunity to claim the starting first base job in mid-June when he started six times in a seven-game stretch. However, he went hitless across 20 at-bats while striking out nine times and was back in the lineup Wednesday for the first time in four matchups. Montero took advantage of the opportunity, taking Andrew Abbott deep for his second homer of the season. He figures to continue to share time at first base with Mike Moustakas and potentially Nolan Jones.

Brenton Doyle - Ends power drought Doyle went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Reds.

Impact Doyle went deep to lead off the game and tally his fifth homer of the season, though he struck out in his other three at-bats. His long ball snapped a 28-game homerless stretch, during which he had only three total extra-base hits and struck out at a 34 percent clip. Despite those struggles, Doyle has retained a regular role in the lineup as the Rockies' centerfielder.
