Likely ready to start season Luplow (ankle) will likely be ready to start the season on the roster, barring any setback in his recovery, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Luplow missed the majority of spring training with an ankle injury, but has appeared in three Cactus League games since March 20. That has given him enough time to enter the competition for the center field job, though he'll have to prove capable of hitting right-handed pitching more consistently to be an everyday player.

Returns to action Duplantier (hand) threw a perfect inning in Wednesday's spring game against Cleveland.

Impact Duplantier, who had an outing scratched due to a cut on his finger, returned to action, making just his second Cactus League appearance. He's been building up slower than others due to an elbow injury that wiped out his 2020 season. As such, he may head to extended spring training.

The Diamondbacks optioned one potential fill-in, Daulton Varsho, to Triple-A on Wednesday. Locastro is slashing .333/.440/.571 with two stolen bases over eight Cactus League games.
