Joey Votto - Nearing rehab assignment Votto (illness) could be a few days away from a rehab assignment, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Votto has been on the COVID-19 injured list since May 3, but he's close to returning to game action. The 38-year-old has gotten off to a slow start to the season, so he'll attempt to find his timing at the plate once he ultimately joins a minor-league affiliate. Bell previously indicated that the Reds' road trip in Toronto next weekend is a potential target for Votto to rejoin the major-league club.

Connor Overton - Sticking in rotation Overton will remain in Cincinnati's starting rotation, with his next start coming Tuesday at Cleveland, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Overton was called up in late April and has made three starts for the Reds, tallying a 1.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB over 17 innings. The 28--year-old will receive a longer look in the starting rotation, while Vladimir Gutierrez will shift to the bullpen.

Vladimir Gutierrez - Moving to bullpen Manager David Bell said Friday that Gutierrez will shift to a bullpen role, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Gutierrez's first six starts of the season came as a starter, but he posted an 8.65 ERA and 1.96 WHIP in 26 innings while settling for an 0-5 record. The right-hander will presumably serve as a middle reliever out of the bullpen, while Connor Overton will remain in the rotation. Gutierrez will likely be an option to serve as a spot starter at some point if needed.

Cam Alldred - Optioned to Triple-A Alldred was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Impact Alldred has his contract selected Wednesday and made his MLB debut the next day, throwing a scoreless inning of relief against the Reds. He'll head back to the minors as the Pirates clear space for Tyler Beede, who was claimed off waivers from the Giants.
