Luke Maile - Two hits, homer Wednesday Maile went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.
Impact Maile extended Cincinnati's lead to 2-0 with an RBI double in the second inning. He'd add a home run, his second of the season, off Austin Gomber in the fifth. It was a solid showing from Maile in a rare start -- he's typically the Reds' third catching option behind Tyler Stephenson and Curt Casili. The veteran backstop is now slashing a solid .278/.333/.500 through 39 plate appearances this season.

Pierce Johnson - Locks down eighth save Johnson picked up the save Wednesday against the Reds, striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.
Impact Johnson relieved Riley Pint in the ninth inning, inheriting runners on second and third, coaxing a pop-out from Wil Myers before striking out Jose Barrero to end the game. Johnson is now 8-for-11 in save opportunities. He's managed to stave off Daniel Bard for the ninth-inning job despite a 5.29 ERA and 1.82 WHIP through 17 innings this season.

Austin Gomber - Struggles in no-decision Gomber did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Reds. He struck out one.
Impact Gomber had been pitching well prior to Wednesday's outing, logging three consecutive quality starts while pitching to a 2.28 ERA in his last four outings. Despite his poor showing against the Reds, Gomber was spared the loss as the Rockies overcame a 5-0 deficit to pick up a win. The 29-year-old lefty is 3-4 on the season with a 6.70 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB through 44.1 innings.

Graham Ashcraft - Hit hard in loss Ashcraft (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and a walk over five innings against the Rockies. He struck out three.
Impact Ashcraft held the Rockies scoreless through four innings before imploding in the fifth, where he allowed five runs, followed by another two in the sixth. The 25-year-old Ashcraft has allowed 19 runs (18 earned) in his last three starts (12.1 innings) after he pitched to a 2.00 ERA over his first six outings. His ERA is now up to 4.84 with a 1.43 WHIP and 36:21 K:BB this season.
