Nick Lodolo - Suffers setback with left tibia Lodolo was diagnosed Tuesday with another stress reaction in his left tibia and is out indefinitely, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Impact Lodolo suffered the setback while making his third minor-league rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Louisville, and it's the same exact injury that has kept him on the shelf since early May. He's seeking a second medical opinion and the Reds aren't commenting further, but the 25-year-old southpaw now seems questionable to return to the major-league rotation before the end of the 2023 regular season.

Impact After covering three scoreless innings in the second start of his rehab assignment Aug. 15, Lodolo retired two fewer hitters Sunday but still threw 12 more pitches (61, 34 for strikes) than he had in his previous outing (49). The Reds would have likely wanted to see a more efficient performance from Lodolo, but the young lefty might have done enough to make his next start with the big club. With a postponement Monday creating a doubleheader Wednesday, the Reds are beginning a stretch of six games in five days, and the pitching-strapped club could be willing to bring Lodolo back from the 60-day injured list later this week even though he's not yet fully stretched out for a traditional starter's workload. If the Reds opt against activating Lodolo this week, he would likely need just one more rehab start before getting cleared to rejoin the big club.

Tejay Antone - Rehab extended Antone (elbow) agreed Sunday to extend his rehab assignment an additional 10 days, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact After opening his rehab assignment July 25, Antone was nearing the end of his 30-day rehab window, but MLB rules will allow him to extend the assignment because he's working his way back from August 2021 Tommy John surgery. Antone was initially expected to be fully cleared for spring training, but those plans were thwarted when he suffered a right flexor strain while rehabbing over the winter. He appears to have steered clear of any further setbacks since he started throwing again in April, and he's turned in respectable results thus far during his rehab assignment. In seven appearances at Triple-A Louisville, Antone has given up four earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out seven over 7.1 innings.
