Placed on injured list
The Giants placed Koss on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left hamstring strain, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
Koss had to make an early exit from Monday's game after injuring his hamstring during his third at-bat, and he'll now be forced to sit out at least another 10 days. Luis Matos will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to replenish the Giants' bench depth.

Injures hamstring Monday
Koss suffered a left hamstring injury in Monday night's 4-2 loss to the Diamondbacks and will not play Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
Koss grounded out to shortstop in his third at-bat of the game but was able to stay in and later hit a ground-rule double in the top of the eighth, only to have Brett Wisely pinch-run for him. It's unclear if Koss will need to head to the injured list. San Francisco is hurting at third base already, with both Matt Chapman (hand) and Casey Schmitt (wrist) already on the 10-day IL. Wisely would figure to be the next man up at the hot corner for the Giants.

Multi-hit effort in loss
Koss went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, a stolen base and a walk in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the White Sox.
Impact
The 27-year-old made his sixth straight start Sunday, including his fourth straight at third base due to Casey Schmitt (wrist) being sidelined. Koss drew a walk in the second inning and subsequently stole second before coming around to score the Giants' first run. He also lined a double to left field in the fourth and added a single in the eighth. The infielder has recorded two hits in each of his last four games, slashing .533/.563/.667 with three runs scored, two doubles and a stolen base across 16 plate appearances during that span.

Getting sixth straight start
Koss will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Impact
Koss will pick up his sixth straight start, including his fourth in a row at third base with Casey Schmitt (wrist) still not ready to return to the lineup. Schmitt is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday and could be at risk of landing on the injured list, which would likely allow Koss to retain a regular spot in the starting nine. if Schmitt is back in action in the coming days, however, Koss would be forced to vie with Brett Wisely for playing time at second base.

Lifts second homer
Koss went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Marlins.
Impact
Koss took Miami starter Cal Quantrill deep in the fifth inning to pull the Giants within a run. Koss has started three of the Giants' last five games, all against right-handed pitchers, but it's too soon to tell how the playing time will shake out at second base in the short term after Tyler Fitzgerald was demoted to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Koss is in the mix, but the right-handed hitter will be competing with the left-handed-hitting Brett Wisely until Matt Chapman's (hand) returns shifts Casey Schmitt over to the keystone. Koss hasn't done much in his first year in the majors, slashing .224/.272/.303 with two homers, 11 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base over his first 84 plate appearances.

Back in big leagues
The Giants recalled Koss from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
The 27-year-old was demoted last week but will rejoin San Francisco with Matt Chapman (hand) landing on the injured list. Koss has a .219/.275/.266 slash line over 72 plate appearances in the majors this season and will likely fill a reserve role while up with the big club.
