Called up from Sacramento
The Giants recalled Koss from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Impact
With Matt Chapman (abdomen) being placed on the injured list, Koss is back with the big-league club for the first time since May 15. Koss made the Opening Day roster for San Francisco, but slugged just .071/.133/.143 in 15 plate appearances. The 28-year-old fractured his wrist back in early June, prohibiting him from playing for Sacramento. After completing a rehab assignment, Koss has been cleared to return to action and will start Wednesday for San Francisco at shortstop.

Begins rehab assignment
Koss (wrist) went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the ACL Giants' 9-1 win over the ACL Padres in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Wednesday.
Impact
After being optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on May 15, Koss fractured his left wrist and landed on the injured list. However, he began a rehab assignment in Arizona on Wednesday, logging two singles and an RBI over the first two innings before being lifted in the sixth. The 28-year-old infielder made San Francisco's Opening Day roster but slashed just .071/.133/.143 with a run scored in 15 plate appearances before being sent down.

Fractures wrist at Triple-A
Koss was diagnosed with a fractured left wrist Tuesday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
Koss hasn't played at Triple-A Sacramento since May 23, and he's now facing an extended absence. The Giants haven't announced a return timeline for the 28-year-old infielder, though he may be a candidate to land on the 60-day IL at some point if the team needs to free up a 40-man roster spot.

Sent down to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Koss to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.
Impact
The move opens up a roster spot for Daniel Susac (elbow), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday. Despite making the Giants' Opening Day roster, Koss has appeared in just 10 games and has gone 1-for-14 with one run scored. His demotion to Triple-A should allow him to get more reps in an everyday role in the infield.

Goes hitless in start
Koss started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Orioles.
Impact
While he got the starting nod in place of Luis Arraez (wrist), Koss failed to make a positive impact at the plate. The 28-year-old infielder has gone hitless in both of his starts this season and has recorded one hit -- a double -- across seven plate appearances. Koss could continue starting for as long as Arraez is out, though manager Tony Vitello said he is targeting Tuesday's game in Cincinnati for Arraez's return, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Multi-hit effort in spring loss
Koss went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Saturday's 8-7 Cactus League loss to the Diamondbacks.
Impact
Koss singled in the fourth inning and came around to score before adding another single in the sixth. He's gotten on base frequently through 13 Cactus League appearances, slashing .423/.545/.423 with six runs scored, six RBI and a stolen base across 33 plate appearances during that span. The 28-year-old appears likely to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster in a utility role after making his big-league debut with the Giants last season, though Tyler Fitzgerald remains in the mix.
