Heading to bench Sunday Koss is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.
Impact Brett Wisely will step in at the keystone while Koss takes a seat following a stretch of three consecutive starts. Since Tyler Fitzgerald (rib) joined Casey Schmitt (oblique) on the injured list May 1, Koss has started at second base in seven of the Giants' first 10 games on the month while going 5-for-23 (.217 average) with no extra-base hits or stolen bases.

Getting steady playing time at 2B Koss will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Impact Koss will occupy the keystone for the third time in four games and could get a look as the Giants' primary option at the position after Tyler Fitzgerald (rib) recently joined Casey Schmitt (oblique) on the injured list. After making the Giants' roster out of spring training, Koss had seen limited playing time through the end of April, logging just 26 plate appearances in total over the team's first 31 games. Along with Koss, Brett Wisely is also likely to be in the mix for playing time at second base while Fitzgerald and Schmitt are on the shelf.

Records first career RBI Koss went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
Impact Koss lined a two-out RBI single into left field to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth frame. The 27-year-old infielder owns a .333 batting average in his last five appearances after hitting .143 in his first seven. Koss has recorded a hit in each of the Giants' previous two games, receiving the starting nod at second base while Tyler Fitzgerald recovers from a chest contusion. Koss is now slashing .217/.280/.217 with four runs scored and a 1:8 BB:K across 26 plate appearances.

Impact Koss started at second base for the third time this season, recording his first big-league hit before coming around to score on a three-run home run by Jung Hoo Lee in the sixth frame. Koss has made a total of five appearances in the 2025 campaign, scoring two runs across 11 plate appearances. The 27-year-old infielder is slashing .100/.182/.100 with a 1:4 BB:K so far this season.

Makes major-league debut Tuesday Koss went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Astros.
Impact Koss drew the start at second base during his big-league debut. The 27-year-old reached first on a walk in the third frame and displayed his speed by scoring from first on a two-run double by Willy Adames. Koss is expected to operate as a utility infielder for the Giants this season, though he's a candidate to receive playing time in the outfield as well, per Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Could play utility role in 2025 Koss is an option to slide into the outfield and could operate in a utility role this season, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Koss earned a spot on the 40-man roster after a successful Cactus League campaign. The 27-year-old shortstop was a non-roster invitee to spring training, finishing with a .341/.426/.512 slash line in 28 games. "He's another guy I watched this spring who carried himself with such confidence," president of baseball operations Buster Posey said Thursday. "At shortstop, third -- wherever he was playing. To me, he's the epitome of a baseball player." Koss didn't suit up for the Giants on Opening Day, though the first game he gets into will mark his MLB debut after several years in the minors.

Makes MLB roster The Giants selected Koss' contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Impact After a phenomenal spring that saw Koss slash .341/.426/.512 with five RBI and 12 runs scored across 47 plate appearances, he will be rewarded with a spot on San Francisco's Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old has spent most of his time at shortstop throughout his minor-league career but has experience at nearly every position, which helps his case for playing time. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

Impact Koss is hitting .333 (4-for-12) with a home run in eight games this spring. He's a long shot but the final bench spot appears wide open for the Giants early this spring. Koss had just a .757 OPS at Triple-A last year (54) games and hasn't been regarded as a top prospect (he's 27 years old) but his glove could help him find a way on the roster.
MARCH 2 • ROTOWIRE
Promoted to Triple-A The Red Sox promoted Koss to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Impact Koss' .619 OPS this season with Double-A Portland doesn't exactly jump off the page, but his above-average glove has earned him a spot in Triple-A for the first time in his career. As long as his defense holds, Koss should stay put in Triple-A, but he has some work to do at the plate before he can be considered for a spot in the majors.
