Joey Wendle - Placed on IL Wendle was placed on the 10-day injured list with left hamstring tendinitis Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 19, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Wendle was out of the lineup for the last three games due to what manager Don Mattingly described as "bumps and bruises," and the infielder will be forced to miss at least another week after being diagnosed with a hamstring injury. Jordan Groshans and Charles Leblanc should see increased playing time in Wendle's absence. It's not yet clear whether the team expects the 32-year-old to return prior to the end of the regular season.

Peyton Burdick - Recalled to majors Burdick was called up from TripleA Jacksonville on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact With Joey Wendle (hamstring) headed to the 10-day injured list, Burdick will be promoted -- likely temporarily -- to the Marlins' big-league roster. Burdick has made 92 plate appearances since his MLB debut in early August and holds just a .554 OPS in that time.

Braxton Garrett - Recalled Thursday Garrett was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 25-year-old was sent down last week but will likely start Friday against the Nationals after Trevor Rogers (lat) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Since Rogers will be unavailable for the remainder of the season, it seems likely that Garrett will be able to remain in the rotation down the stretch. Garrett has made 14 major-league starts this year and has posted a 3.68 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 73.1 innings.

Trevor Rogers - Officially placed on injured list Rogers was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 19, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Rogers has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a Grade 1 lat strain, so his move to the injured list was expected. However, the southpaw should be able to have a relatively normal offseason program since his strain isn't considered particularly severe. Braxton Garrett was called up Thursday and could take Rogers' place in the starting rotation.

Seiya Suzuki - Not expected back this weekend Suzuki (personal) isn't expected to be available for the Cubs' four-game series in Pittsburgh this weekend, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact The 28-year-old was placed on the paternity list Saturday and shifted to the restricted list as a procedural move Thursday. His wife has yet to give birth, so Suzuki will remain away from the team for a few more days. Michael Hermosillo should continue to see increased playing time while Suzuki is unavailable.
