Hunter Greene - Ejected in return Tuesday Greene (shoulder) started for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday during the third inning, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact The 22-year-old was scratched from his start last week due to irritation in the AC joint of his right shoulder, but he was able to retake the mound a week later. However, Greene was ejected during the third frame after throwing a fastball behind Johan Camargo, who hit a homer off him earlier in the contest. Overall the right-hander surrendered four runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk across 2.2 innings.

Tejay Antone - Could return next Tuesday Antone (forearm) could return from the injured list next Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Impact A strained forearm has kept Antone on the shelf since late June. He's already made four rehab appearances, striking out six while allowing a run on two hits and three walks over 3.2 innings of work. He's had two full days off between each outing, however, so the Reds want him to throw on back-to-back days before he's cleared to return.

Adrian Sampson - Starting Wednesday Sampson will be recalled to start Wednesday's game against the Reds, source reports.

Impact Sampson owns an unimpressive 5.71 ERA in 153 career innings at the MLB level. He spent last year in South Korea but wasn't great at that level, either, struggling to a 5.40 ERA in 25 starts. A 4.96 ERA in 81.2 innings for Triple-A Iowa this season hardly suggests things have changed, but the Cubs will turn his way for a spot start nonetheless.

R.J. Alaniz - Activated and optioned Alaniz (calf) was activated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Louisville, source reports.

Impact Alaniz had already been pitching for Louisville while on a rehab assignment and will now remain there as a regular member of the roster. He's spent the majority of his season at that level, making 23 Triple-A appearances compared to just three in the majors.

Heath Hembree - Designated for assignment Hembree was designated for assignment by the Reds on Tuesday.

Impact It's a tough life out there for a reliever. Hembree was excellent for much of July, posting a 1.69 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB over an 11-appearance stretch and saving seven games. Everything fell apart after that, as he allowed 13 runs in his last seven innings of work, including five in Monday's game against the Cubs. His bullpen spot will be taken by Tony Santillan, who was recalled in a corresponding move.

Impact Santillan has struck out 30 batters in 23.1 innings at the highest level this season but owns a mediocre 4.24 ERA. He'll take the bullpen spot that had been occupied by Heath Hembree, who was designated for assignment.
