GAME LOG

INJURIES

Nabs first win in relief Anderson (1-2) picked up the win in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Orioles, giving up one hit over two scoreless innings of relief. He struck out four.
Impact Entering the game in the sixth inning after T.J. Zeuch had blanked the O's for five frames, Anderson kept the shutout going and was rewarded for his efforts when Cavan Biggio gave the Jays the lead with a solo shot. While he was able to end the regular season on a high note, Anderson overall had a rough first campaign with Toronto, posting a 7.22 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 38:10 K:BB through 33.2 innings.

Moving to bullpen Anderson will be available out of the bullpen Tuesday and won't start Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact Anderson has struggled mightily in each of his last three starts, and he'll be moved to a bullpen role, presumably for the remainder of the regular season and for the postseason. Robbie Ray will start in his place Wednesday with Hyun-jin Ryu taking the mound Thursday.

On wrong side of history Anderson (0-2) took the loss Thursday as the Blue Jays fell 10-7 to the Yankees, coughing up seven runs on eight hits -- including an incredible five home runs -- and a walk over 2...
Impact Entering the game after opener Julian Merryweather allowed two runs in the first inning, Anderson tossed a couple of clean frames before a disastrous fourth in which the Yankees posted their first five-homer inning in franchise history, en route to becoming the first team in MLB history to slug six or more homers in three straight games. Anderson's next outing is also scheduled to come against the Yankees back in Buffalo on Tuesday, but his 7.45 ERA and 1.72 WHIP through 29 innings this season don't inspire much confidence that he's ready for a rematch.

Following opener Thursday Anderson will work behind an opener Thursday against the Yankees, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Impact The veteran right-hander was slated to make a traditional start Thursday, but Julian Merryweather has now been tabbed as the opener. Anderson has started in all seven of his outings this season and has a 5.81 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings.

Roughed up by Mets Anderson (0-1) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over 2.2 innings as he was charged with the loss Friday against the Mets.
Impact Anderson has struggled mightily in each of his past two starts, and he picked up his first decision of the season in Friday's 18-1 loss. The right-hander hasn't lasted longer than five innings in any of his seven starts in 2020 as he carries a 5.81 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through 26.1 innings. He'll attempt to right the ship on the road Thursday against the Yankees.

Hit hard by Red Sox Anderson gave up six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over four innings versus the Red Sox on Saturday. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Four of the six runs charged to Anderson came on three homers in the second inning. He also allowed a two-run double to Rafael Devers in the fourth. Anderson has yet to record a result is six starts this year, but Saturday was by far his worst performance. The right-hander now has a 4.94 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 21 strikeouts across 23.2 innings. He'll try to keep the ball in the yard Friday versus the Mets.

Takes no-decision once again Anderson allowed a run on three hits while fanning eight across five innings pitched in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Orioles. He did not factor in the decision and did not issue a walk...
Impact The Jays were careful with Anderson once again, pulling him after five innings and 84 pitches despite the right-hander appearing to be in full control. The 32-year-old's eight strikeouts shattered his previous season high of three. He was in line to pick up his first win after Toronto took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but had to settle for his fifth consecutive no-decision after the Orioles tied the game in the sixth. Nonetheless, it was Anderson's best start of the season and he will look to keep his momentum going Sunday in Boston.
