Picks up win despite blister

Impact
Rodon threw 47 of 71 pitches for strikes through five innings before departing the contest, as the finger issues didn't diminish his effectiveness. The 29-year-old's next turn through the rotation tentatively lines up for Tuesday in Colorado, and manager Gabe Kapler believes Rodon will be good to go for that outing.

Mows down 11 batters in no-decision
Rodon did not factor in the decision against Arizona on Wednesday despite allowing only one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters over six innings.
Impact
Rodon exited after seven frames staked to a one-run lead, but an eighth-inning Diamondbacks comeback removed his chance at a win. Despite the final outcome, the southpaw was dominant in the outing, racking up 19 swinging strikes and registering double-digit punchouts for the third time in his past five starts. Rodon has posted a 2.67 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 41:4 K:BB over 30.1 innings during that stretch. He ranks third in the majors with 179 strikeouts on the campaign.

Picks up third straight win
Rodon (11-6) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out seven over six innings, earning the win over the Pirates on Friday.
Impact
Rodon was able to limit the damage to a pair of solo home runs. The southpaw has won three straight starts, racking up 20 strikeouts without walking a batter across 18.1 innings in that span. The ace has a 2.95 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 168:39 K:BB through 134.1 innings in 23 starts overall. Rodon is tentatively projected for a favorable home start versus the Diamondbacks next week.

Earns 10th win
Rodon (10-6) gave up one earned run on five hits and no walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings to earn the win in a 7-3 victory over the Athletics on Saturday.
Impact
Rodon continued his excellent 2022 campaign by holding the Athletics to only one run on a Sean Murphy single. The performance wasn't his most dominant, but he did enough to pick up his tenth win of the season while lowering his ERA to back under 3.00. The hard-throwing lefty now boasts a 161:39 K:BB in 128.1 innings this season to go along with an ERA of 2.95. He tentatively lines up for a favorable matchup at home against the Pirates in his next expected start.

Shuts down Cubs
Rodon (9-6) earned the win during Sunday's 4-0 shutout of the Cubs, allowing two hits while striking out 10 in seven scoreless innings.
Impact
In what may have been a final audition prior to Tuesday's trade deadline, Rodon completely shut down Chicago's offense -- he permitted singles in the first and fourth with neither baserunner making it past first base -- and retired the final 10 batters he faced, five via strikeout. The hard-throwing lefty fired 64 of 98 pitches for strikes with 15 of the swinging variety, and he concludes July with 53 strikeouts in six starts to pull within four of MLB leader Gerrit Cole at 158 on the season. If Rodon remains a Giant, he's slated to take the mound again next weekend against Oakland.

Stung by long ball
Rodon (8-6) took the loss during Tuesday's 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Diamondbacks, allowing five runs on three hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts in six innings.
Impact
Rodon pitched well Tuesday -- surrendering only six baserunners -- but was stung by the home run, permitting a Sergio Alcantara two-run shot in the second inning and a Christian Walker three-run homer in the third. Despite the loss, Rodon struck out at least seven batters for the fifth straight start and has now fanned 43 batters across 30 frames during the span. The 29-year-old carries a 3.18 ERA and 1.12 WHIP into his next start, currently lined up for Sunday Night Baseball against the Cubs.

Struggles against Dodgers
Rodon allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Thursday.
Impact
Rodon had been dealing with a blood blister and a split nail on his pitching hand prior to the All-Star break, so he opted not to throw in the Tuesday's All-Star Game and instead used the time off to try to recover. Though he was able to start San Francisco's first game following the exhibition contest, it's not clear if the finger issues affected him Thursday. What is clear is that the southpaw had one of his poorest outings of the season, giving up just his fifth homer of the campaign -- a solo shot by Freddie Freeman in the first inning -- and allowing five runs for only the second time through 19 starts. Still, it wasn't a totally inept appearance for the southpaw, as he racked up 17 swinging strikes and seven punchouts against one of the league's best offenses.
