INJURIES

Set to start Tuesday Woo will start Tuesday against the Angels, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Impact Woo had his previous turn in the rotation skipped, though he'll be called on just four days later, so it's perhaps more accurate to say that he'll merely be receiving a few extra days of rest. Woo has had his moments this season, but his ERA now sits at 4.50 after he allowed five runs in five innings against the Reds in his most recent start. Given that his 114 innings between the majors and minors this season far outpace the 57 he threw last season, it's reasonable to expect him to be handled very cautiously down the stretch.

Being skipped in rotation Woo will not start Saturday against the Rays as he is skipped in the Mariners' rotation, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Impact Seattle will go with a bullpen game instead at Tampa Bay, with Luke Weaver serving as the bulk pitcher. Woo is up to 114 innings this year between the minors and majors -- double what he threw in 2022 -- and he was knocked around for five earned runs over five innings in his last start Tuesday at Cincinnati. The 23-year-old will grab some extra rest before returning to the Mariners' rotation mix late next week.

Falls to Cincinnati Woo (2-4) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against Cincinnati without recording a strikeout.
Impact The Reds got to Woo early Monday, scoring twice in the first inning before adding three more in the second on a Spencer Steer home run. The rookie right-hander would eventually settle in, delivering three scoreless frames to finish the outing, though he'd ultimately take his first loss since July 23. Woo had pitched well since coming off the IL in late August, allowing just one run in his previous two starts (10 innings). Overall, he sports a 4.50 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 68:22 K:BB across 14 starts (70 innings) this season. Woo's tentatively lined up for a road matchup with the Rays in his next outing.

Looks good against Oakland Woo (2-3) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out five over six shutout innings to earn the win Monday over the Athletics.
Impact Woo earned his fourth quality start of the year, including his second in three outings, with this gem. The right-hander was efficient in throwing 45 of 69 pitches for strikes. He's at a 4.15 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 68:19 K:BB through 65 innings over 13 starts this season. The Mariners may take it easy with Woo down the stretch, though it's unknown if they have the rookie on a pitch count from start to start or on an innings limit for the season. He's tentatively lined up to make his next start on the road versus the Mets this weekend.

Solid in no-decision Woo didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's victory over the White Sox, allowing an earned run on three hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out three.
Impact As expected, Woo was capped at four innings during his return from a stint on the injured list due to forearm inflammation. The rookie right-hander pounded 43 of 65 pitches in for strikes and settled in nicely after giving up an RBI single to Andrew Vaughn in the first inning. Now apparently back to full health, Woo is likely to go long enough to qualify for a decision in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for either Sunday against the Royals or Monday versus the Athletics.
AUGUST 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Unlikely to qualify for win Tuesday The Mariners will likely limit Woo to four innings Tuesday against the White Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact Woo was just activated from the injured list after missing 18 days with a forearm injury, and since he didn't go on a rehab assignment, the team will be cautious with his workload in this first start back. He is a solid add in fantasy going forward, but don't expect Woo to qualify for a win in Tuesday's start.

Reinstated from IL Woo was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Impact Woo missed time with right forearm inflation. The rookie did not need any rehab assignments after the Mariners were pleased with how his bullpen sessions went. As he works himself back from the injured list, his workload may be limited. The starting pitcher returns as Emerson Hancock heads to the 60-day injured list.

Set to start Tuesday Woo (forearm) is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact It had been anticipated that Woo would start at some point during the series with the White Sox that kicks off Monday night, and he is now on track to take the ball Tuesday night. Woo did not head out on a rehab assignment, so he should be relatively stretched out. However, expect the Mariners to be cautious with him in his first game back.

Early-week activation possible Woo (forearm) may be activated to start in the Mariners' three-game set against the White Sox beginning Monday after recovering well from Thursday's 20-pitch bullpen session, MLB.c...
Impact Manager Scott Servais confirmed Woo was feeling "really good" Saturday -- about 48 hours removed from the session -- and was projected to be activated to start either Tuesday or Wednesday against the White Sox. However, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports the Mariners' short-term pitching plans may have to be adjusted with Emerson Hancock potentially heading to the injured list due to a lat strain that forced his early exit from Sunday's start. Per Divish, that will definitively scrap Seattle's plans for a six-man rotation for the moment, and it may require the team to add a reliever for at least a couple of games before Woo is reinstated.
AUGUST 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
On track to return next week Woo (forearm) is on track to rejoin the Mariners' rotation early next week against the White Sox, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact Woo will throw what's expected to be a 30-pitch bullpen session Thursday and, as long he comes out of it with no issues, will be back with Seattle next week as part of a six-man rotation. The rookie right-hander has missed most of August with right forearm inflammation.
AUGUST 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Bullpen session on tap Woo (forearm) is slated to throw a 30-pitch bullpen session ahead of Thursday's series finale against the Royals, the team's official site reports.
Impact The Mariners will assess Woo's progress once they have a chance to observe how he recovers from the session. The forearm swelling Woo was experiencing has mostly subsided and he's been playing catch in recent days, so he remains optimistic of potentially being able to return from the injured list when first eligible Sunday.
AUGUST 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Plays catch Monday Woo (forearm) played catch Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Impact It has been less than a week since Woo landed on the injured list, and he has already been given the green light to throw, which backs up last week's report that the Mariners are not concerned about the injury. Woo could throw a bullpen session soon, and barring any setbacks could rejoin Seattle's rotation as early as next week.

Mariners place rookie RHP Bryan Woo on 15-day injured list with forearm inflammation

The Seattle Mariners have placed rookie right-hander Bryan Woo on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right forearm
AUGUST 9, 2023 • Associated Press
Forearm issue considered minor Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Tuesday that there are "no real concerns" with Woo's right forearm, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Impact Woo was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday afternoon due to right forearm inflammation, but Hollander called that a precautionary move and expressed optimism that the 23-year-old will only have to miss a couple of weeks. Emerson Hancock is getting the call Wednesday to fill the rotation vacancy in Seattle.

Lands on IL with forearm issue Seattle placed Woo on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to August 5, with right forearm inflammation.
Impact The severity of the issue is unclear, but Woo will miss at least a couple of turns in the Mariners' rotation. The 23-year-old right-hander leaves behind a 4.75 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 60:17 K:BB in his first 11 major-league starts covering 55 innings.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tosses quality start Thursday Woo pitched six innings against the Angels on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters in a no-decision.
Impact Woo got through five scoreless frames before the Angels tagged him for two runs in the sixth. The right-hander departed in line for a tough loss but was let off the hook when Seattle rallied for four runs in the ninth. Woo got back on track in the strikeout department, fanning six batters after failing to record a punchout over five frames in his previous outing. His quality start Thursday was the third of his rookie campaign so far.
AUGUST 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Logs zero punchouts in five frames Woo pitched five innings against Arizona on Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out zero batters in a no-decision.
Impact Woo came into the contest with 54 punchouts over 44 big-league frames, so it was surprising to see him tally five innings without recording a single strikeout. Despite that oddity, the rookie righty managed a respectable showing, keeping Arizona off the scoreboard through three frames before allowing three runs over the fourth and fifth. Woo's ability to miss bats is perhaps his most alluring asset in fantasy, and it's logical to expect this outing to be an aberration in that regard. Still, Woo's a risky pitcher to roster in fantasy redraft leagues given a few shaky starts this season as well as the likelihood that he'll be shut down at some point to limit his workload.
JULY 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Fans seven in loss Woo (1-3) allowed four runs on four hits and a walk over six-plus innings Sunday, striking out seven and taking a loss against Toronto.
Impact Woo tossed three scoreless frames before coughing up a two-run shot to Vladimir Guerrero in the fourth inning. Woo's given up multiple homers in two straight games after being taken deep just once in his previous four outings. Following a stretch of six consecutive starts allowing two or fewer runs, he's been tagged with 10 runs over his last two appearances. While his ERA rose to 4.91, he's sporting a strong 54:13 K:BB across 44 career MLB innings. Woo's next start is projected to be in Arizona.
JULY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Falters versus Twins Woo (1-2) allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out four over 3.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Twins.
Impact Woo hadn't given up more than two runs in any of his six previous starts, but he struggled after a 10-day gap between outings. The Twins got to him for two runs in the first inning and then piled on in the third and fourth. Woo is now at a 4.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB over 38 innings through eight starts this season. He's lined up for a home start versus the Blue Jays this weekend.
