INJURIES

Cleared to start Friday Woo (hamstring) is scheduled to start Friday against the Phillies at T-Mobile Park.
Impact Woo's status for the weekend series with the Phillies had been in question after he departed his latest start this past Saturday in Chicago due to a right hamstring discomfort. Even though Woo spent time on the injured list earlier in July with an injury to the same hamstring, the Mariners were apparently encouraged enough with how he checked out during his post-start throwing sessions to clear him for the Philadelphia series. Woo has had two separate stints on the IL this season, has been scratched from a start and has exited early in three starts, but he's been excellent overall during his time on the mound, posting a 2.35 ERA and 0.89 WHIP across 53.2 innings.

Early exit with hamstring pain Woo experienced discomfort in his right hamstring during Saturday's start against the White Sox but isn't expected to miss his next start, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Woo all...
Impact Woo was removed after 70 pitches and reported pain in his right hamstring, the same hamstring he strained in mid-June that required an IL stint. Saturday's start was Woo's third since being activated from the injured list and he's still expected to make his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come Friday against the Phillies. Still, considering the touchy nature of the injury, fantasy managers should keep an eye on Woo's status leading up to his next start.

Efficient in win Woo (4-1) got the win over the Astros on Sunday, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings.
Impact All the significant damage against Woo came off the bat of Yordan Alvarez. He surrendered a solo home run in the fourth, and then Alvarez laced a triple off him in the sixth to bring another run home. Woo only threw 73 pitches, but Sunday was his longest outing since he went six innings June 6. It was also the sixth time in 10 starts this season he hasn't issued a walk. It was an excellent bounce back effort from the 24-year-old after his worst start of the year July 12. Woo will carry a 2.54 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 34:5 K:BB in 49.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to be against the White Sox over the weekend.

Shelled in return Woo did not factor into the decision in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Angels, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out just one.
Impact Despite his fastball clocking in at 94.9 mph, up 0.2 mph from his season average, Woo looked rusty in his return from a hamstring injury against an unspectacular Angels lineup. The Seattle right-hander generated only six whiffs out of his 66 pitches and allowed a career-high nine hits. Even with this poor performance, Woo closes out the first half with a 2.45 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across 44 innings. He currently lines up to face the Angels again at home in his next start after the All-Star break.

Activated off IL The Mariners reinstated Woo (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Friday against the Angels.
Impact Woo made his lone rehab start with High-Everett on July 6, when he threw 45 pitches over 2.2 innings and allowed two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out two. In his eight starts prior to landing on the injured list June 25 with a strained hamstring, Woo went 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 28:3 K:BB across 40.2 innings. To make room on the 26-man roster for Woo, the Mariners optioned right-hander Eduard Bazardo to Triple-A Tacoma.

Returning over weekend Manager Scott Servais said Tuesday that Woo (hamstring) will return from the injured list during Seattle's upcoming series against the Angels, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Impact Servais didn't specify exactly what day Woo will return to start, though his usual spot in the rotation is due to pitch Friday. The 24-year-old had been dominant in eight starts prior to landing on the IL with a strained hamstring, posting a 1.77 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in 40.2 innings. However, he threw just 45 pitches in 2.2 frames during his lone rehab start Saturday, so Woo will most likely be working under a relatively low pitch count in his return to a major-league mound.

May need another rehab start Woo (hamstring) threw 45 pitches and allowed two runs on a hit with two walks and two strikeouts over 2.2 innings during his rehab start with High-A Everett on Saturday, Daniel Kra...
Impact The 24-year-old rejoined the Mariners on Sunday, but manager Scott Servais was non-committal on whether the right-hander will require an additional rehab outing. The club wants Woo to be able to cover at least four or five innings before being reinserted into the big-league rotation, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's sent on another rehab outing to further build up his workload before being activated.
JULY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared for rehab start Woo (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Everett this weekend, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Impact Woo came out of a bullpen session Wednesday with no concerns, clearing the way for him to make a rehab start. Mariners manager Scott Servais wouldn't rule out a return before the All-Star break for Woo, so it sounds like the right-hander could need just the one rehab outing if all goes well.

Mariners place right-hander Bryan Woo on 15-day IL with a strained hamstring

Seattle Mariners starter Bryan Woo has been placed on the 15-day injured list, one day after straining his right hamstring
JUNE 25, 2024 • Associated Press
Lands on IL with strained hamstring The Mariners placed Woo on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Impact It's being classified as a low-grade strain, so perhaps Woo has a chance to return when his 15 days are up or shortly after. Emerson Hancock would normally be the obvious candidate to step into the Mariners' rotation in Woo's place, but his status is unclear after he exited his last start at Triple-A Tacoma with lower-back tightness.

Expected to return Wednesday Woo (forearm) is expected to start Wednesday on the road against the Guardians, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact Woo was forced to miss his last scheduled start Tuesday versus the White Sox due to right forearm discomfort, but after a clean MRI, he appears set to return to the mound in Cleveland. The 24-year-old has produced a sparkling 1.07 ERA and 0.53 WHIP while striking out 24 batters over 33.2 innings in six starts this season.
