INJURIES

Set for release The Royals requested for Kriske to go on unconditional release waivers Friday.
Impact Kriske is expected to continue his career in Japan. The 29-year-old got into four games with the Royals this season, posting a 4.05 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB over 6.2 innings. He also carried a 5.52 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 49:16 K:BB through 29.1 innings with Triple-A Omaha. Kriske previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball during the 2022 campaign with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

Demoted to minors The Royals optioned Kriske to Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.
Impact Kriske pitched two hitless innings Friday against the Dodgers, but he will return to Omaha after making four appearances in his latest MLB stint. Kriske holds a 4.05 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through 6.2 frames with Kansas City and could return to the majors if the Royals' bullpen depth gets tested later this year. Collin Snider was recalled from Omaha in a corresponding move.
JULY 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Contract selected from Iowa Kansas City selected Kriske's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Impact Kriske takes the 40- and 26-man active roster spot of Mike Mayers after Mayers was designated for assignment by Kansas City on Sunday. Signed to a minor-league contract by the Royals over the winter, Kriske has made 25 appearances with Iowa, and he's forged a 6.00 ERA in 27 innings of work with a much more appetizing 47 strikeouts over those frames. He'll be a middle innings option while he's on the roster.
JUNE 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Continuing career overseas Kriske signed a contract Tuesday with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan, Sung Min Kim of The Athletic reports.
Impact Kriske split the 2021 campaign between the Yankees and Orioles, and he had a 14.29 ERA, 2.03 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB over 11.1 innings. He'll now head to Japan to continue his career with MLB players currently locked out.

Picks up win Kriske (2-1) allowed one run on one hit with one strikeout over an inning of work, picking up the win in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Rangers.
Impact In just his second appearance since being claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Sept. 16, Kriske was made a winner thanks to a three-run outburst by Baltimore in the seventh. Though the right-hander did give up a solo homer to Jose Trevino, winning heals all wounds. He'll try to stick around on the big-league roster until the end of the season.

Lit up in relief outing Kriske allowed five runs on three hits and three walks while striking out one over one inning against Toronto on Monday.
Impact The right-hander entered in the ninth inning with the Yankees trailing by three, and by the time he retired three batters, Toronto had turned the contest into an 8-0 rout. Kriske opened the frame by serving up a homer to Teoscar Hernandez, then walked three of the next five batters before Marcus Semien belted a grand slam. With the disastrous outing, Kriske's ERA ballooned to 15.26 across 7.2 innings this season. He's been up and down between the minors and the big club throughout the campaign.

Called up Wednesday Kriske was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Impact Kriske was on the Yankees' practice squad recently, and he'll provide an extra arm in the bullpen after Clay Holmes was placed on the COVID-19 injured list while awaiting a test result. The right-hander has recorded a 10.80 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 6.2 innings across seven relief appearances this year.
AUGUST 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to Triple-A Kriske was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.
Impact Kriske took the mound in the 10th inning Tuesday with the Yankees leading 4-3, but he allowed two runs to score, including the unearned runner on second to start extra innings, thanks to a walk and four wild pitches. The right-hander received a rare high-leverage opportunity but squandered that chance with his control issues. Kriske has given up eight earned runs on nine hits over 6.2 frames for the Yankees this season.
