INJURIES

Sharp against Toronto Sproat did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings.
Impact Sproat delivered a much-needed performance after a shaky start to the season, working efficiently and coming within one out of completing seven innings. The right-hander's only run allowed came in the third inning on a sacrifice bunt following back-to-back hits. However, Milwaukee's offense managed just one run of support, forcing Sproat to settle for a no-decision despite the strong outing. His season numbers remain rough, as he still holds a 6.88 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and a 16:11 K:BB across 17 innings. The 25-year-old will look to replicate Thursday's success in his next outing, scheduled against Detroit.

Rejoining rotation Thursday Sproat (knee) will start against the Blue Jays on Thursday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
Impact The right-hander picked up a knee injury during his relief outing Saturday against Washington, which was his best showing of the campaign with one run allowed on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings, but he checked out fine when evaluated Sunday. Sproat will re-enter the rotation Thursday and will likely need another decent showing to solidify his place in Milwaukee's starting five.

Murphy: Brewers Receive 'Bad News' With Injury of Another Star Player
Knee checks out okay Sproat (knee) underwent examination, which came back clean on his right knee Sunday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Sproat landed awkwardly on his right knee on a diving attempt to field a grounder hit by Nationals second baseman Nasim Nunez in the top of the seventh inning Saturday, but he appears to have avoided any long-term injury. The right-hander entered the contest out of the bullpen, delivering Milwaukee with 3.2 innings of one run ball while allowing four hits and three walks. It's unclear if Sproat's next outing will come as a starter or out of the pen once again, but the fact that he's healthy is good news.

May have knee injury Sproat is getting his knee examined following his relief appearance Saturday versus the Nationals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. In the outing, he tossed 3.2 innings in relief a...
Impact Sproat was pretty wild Saturday, tossing just 38 of 65 pitches for strikes and issuing three free passes. However, he escaped with only one run his ledger. The right-hander entered in the sixth frame after starting his his first game of the campaign and working as an opener in his second. It's not clear how or when the potential knee issue cropped up, but both Sproat and Saturday's starter Kyle Harrison were slated for knee exams following the loss, according to manager Pat Murphy. Results of those tests should provide clarity about whether either hurler is in danger of missing time.

No longer starting this weekend Sproat is no longer listed among the Brewers' scheduled starters for this weekend's series versus the Nationals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Sproat's turn had been slated to come up Saturday, but the Brewers will push Kyle Harrison and Brandon Woodruff each up to start the final two games of the series. The Brewers didn't reveal the reason behind the decision, though it could simply be the team taking advantage of the off day Thursday to push back or skip a struggling starter. Sproat has allowed 11 runs with a 7:7 K:BB through his first 6.2 innings this season.

Another rough outing Sproat (0-1) took the loss Saturday against the Royals, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out four.
Impact Following a miserable 2026 debut, when he allowed seven runs against the White Sox, Sproat didn't fare much better in his second appearance. The right-hander struggled to find the plate, throwing just 39 of his 70 offerings for strikes before being chased from the outing in the sixth inning. The Brewers elected to use Sproat after an opener Saturday, so it remains to be seen how he'll be deployed going forward. He's tentatively slated for a generally favorable matchup versus the Nationals next weekend.

Struggles in 2026 debut Sproat allowed seven runs on six hits and four walks while striking out three across three innings during Sunday's game against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Sproat put the Brewers on the back foot right out of the gate after yielding a grand slam to Colson Montgomery in the first inning. The former proceeded to yield three more runs over the next two frames (including two solo homers) and was lifted before the start of the fourth frame. Sproat avoided the loss thanks to the Brewers' six-run rally in the eighth, but it was a disastrous 2026 debut for the 25-year-old right-hander. He nabbed a spot in the Brewers' rotation due to Quinn Priester (wrist) starting the season on the 15-day injured list, but outings like Sunday's will Sproat on thin ice. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next weekend on the road against the Royals.

Makes Opening Day rotation Sproat has made the Brewers' Opening Day rotation and is slated for his season debut Sunday versus the White Sox, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Injuries to others pushed Sproat up in the pecking order, but he might have capture a spot in the Brewers' rotation regardless. The right-hander was charged with five runs but had a 10:2 K:BB over nine innings during Cactus League play. After facing the White Sox, Sproat tentatively lines up to go up against the Royals and Nationals, giving the 25-year-old early-season streaming appeal.
