INJURIES

Won't start Thursday after all Brieske (forearm) is no longer on track to return from the 15-day injured list Thursday, as Garrett Hill is scheduled to start the Tigers' series finale with the Guardians that day...
Impact Since Brieske completed his second rehab start at Triple-A Toledo last Friday, he should be available to pitch for the Tigers as soon as Wednesday. The Tigers haven't indicated that Brieske has suffered any sort of setback in his recovery from a right forearm injury, but he looks like he'll get some extra rest before he makes his return from the IL. Brieske could still be an option to start any of the Tigers' three games this weekend in Chicago versus the White Sox.
AUGUST 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Trending toward Thursday return The Tigers are expected to activate Brieske (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's series finale with the Guardians, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact Brieske had previously looked to be on track to return to the rotation as early as Wednesday, but the Tigers will instead have Tyler Alexander and Drew Hutchison take the mound for the first two games of the series with Cleveland to afford the rookie right-hander one additional day of rest. In his most recent rehab start Friday at Triple-A Toledo, Brieske struck out eight over 4.1 innings of one-run ball and built up to 66 pitches.
AUGUST 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Could return Wednesday Brieske (forearm) could start Wednesday against the Guardians, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Impact Brieske hasn't pitched at the big-league level since July 12 due to forearm soreness, but he's ready to go after making a pair of rehab starts. His most recent outing, which came Friday for Triple-A Toledo, saw him strike out eight batters and walk none while allowing one run on three hits in 4.1 frames.
AUGUST 6, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Starts rehab assignment Brieske (forearm) began a rehab assignment Sunday for Triple-A Toledo and struck out two while allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks over three innings.
Impact Brieske was making his first appearance at any level since July 12 after the Tigers moved him to the 15-day injured list coming out of the All-Star break due to right forearm soreness. The Tigers were looking to manage the rookie's workload anyway, so the injury doesn't seem to be a major concern. He tossed 45 pitches Sunday and will likely need to get ramped up with at least one more outing at Triple-A before slotting back into the big-league rotation.
JULY 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Detroit Tigers' Beau Brieske (dead arm) was to be monitored closely even before IL stint The Detroit Tigers will closely monitor Beau Brieske's innings,\u00a0similar to what happened with Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal last season.

Tigers place Beau Brieske on 15-day IL, reinstate Jose Cisnero from bereavement list After heading into the All-Star break with three straight quality starts, Beau Brieske has been placed on the 15-day injured list.
JULY 21, 2022 • DETROITNEWS.COM
Headed for 15-day IL The Tigers placed Brieske on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right forearm soreness.
Impact Though forearm soreness can often be a precursor to a more significant injury, the Tigers don't appear to be overly concerned about Brieske's move to the IL, which is retroactive to July 18. According to Matt Shepard of Bally Sports Detroit, manager A.J. Hinch said that the rookie won't be shut down from throwing while he's on the shelf and should only miss a couple of turns through the rotation. The right-hander had been on a roll prior to the injury, producing three consecutive quality starts prior to the All-Star break. Jose Cisnero was reinstated from the bereavement list Thursday and will replace Brieske on the active roster.
JULY 21, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Not pitching this weekend Brieske won't start as scheduled Sunday against the Guardians in order to manage his workload ahead of the second half of the season, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact The right-hander lined up to start Detroit's final game before the All-Star break Sunday in Cleveland, but manager A.J. Hinch will instead employ a bullpen game. Brieske has been a solid starter in his first taste of big-league action this year, as he has a 4.19 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 54:25 K:BB across 81.2 innings (15 starts). The 24-year-old also made two starts with Triple-A Toledo before being promoted, and he's on pace to crush his career high of 106.2 innings, which he set in 2021. Brieske will receive an extended break heading into the intermission before likely re-entering the Tigers' rotation next weekend.
JULY 15, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Collects third win Brieske (3-6) allowed three runs on five hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out four in six innings to earn the win over the Royals on Tuesday.
Impact Brieske turned in his third straight quality start and his second consecutive win. All three runs against him came in the first two innings before he settled in, facing just one batter over the minimum over his last four frames. It appears the rookie right-hander is starting to find some stability in the middle of his first big-league season, as he's covered at least six innings in five of his eight starts since the beginning of June. He owns a 4.19 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 54:25 K:BB through 81.2 innings in 15 starts overall. Brieske is on track to start Sunday versus the Guardians in the Tigers' last game before the All-Star break.
JULY 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Dazzles in win Thursday Brieske (2-6) pitched 6.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the White Sox. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four.
Impact Chicago trotted out the red-hot Dylan Cease, but Brieske was up for the duel. This was the third time this season the rookie has allowed zero runs in a start, with the other two coming in consecutive outings June 11 and June 16. The two hits were also the fewest he's allowed in a game. Brieske only has 50 strikeouts across 75.2 innings, so he's not overpowering hitters, but he's been reasonably effective with a 4.16 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He'll carry some positive momentum into his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Royals.
JULY 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
No-decision in quality start Brieske didn't factor into the decision during Saturday's 4-3 victory over Kansas City, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings.
Impact Brieske rebounded nicely from a two-run first-inning to permit only one more run while pitching at least six innings for the fourth time in 13 turns. He could've gone deeper with an efficient 82 pitches through the six frames, but manager A.J. Hinch opted to turn to the bullpen with his team behind and the top of Kansas City's order due up. The performance was a nice rebound from nine total runs allowed during his previous two starts, and Brieske will look to keep it going with a start projected for midweek against the White Sox.
JULY 3, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Chased in fourth inning Brieske allowed five runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Impact Brieske had trouble in the third inning with a solo home run from Carson Kelly and a Christian Walker sacrifice fly. The struggles continued into the fourth, as Arizona scraped together three more runs, all of which went onto Brieske's line after reliever Alex Lange allowed two inherited runners to score. The Tigers' offense bounced back to get the rookie starter off the hook, but that was the only silver lining from another ugly start. Brieske has allowed at least four runs in three of his last six outings, and he now owns a 4.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 43:20 K:BB through 63.1 innings in 12 starts. With two off days next week, he should have an extra day to regroup before a projected home start against the Royals.
JUNE 27, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Falls at Fenway Park Brieske (1-6) allowed four runs on six hits across five innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Red Sox. He had no walks and struck out four.
Impact Fenway Park is a tough place to pitch for rookies, though Brieske looked OK through three innings with just one run allowed. Things were a bit more dicey in the fourth, when he allowed two singles followed by a three-run home run by Trevor Story. Despite the setback and the rough win-loss record, Brieske has still pitched decently overall with a 4.07 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 59.2 innings.

Throws seven shutout innings Brieske allowed three run and two walks with six strikeouts in seven shutout innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Thursday.
Impact Brieske earned his third quality start in 10 games this year with his most dominant performance yet. He's now gone 12.2 innings in his last two starts without allowing a run, though Gregory Soto's blown save Thursday denied Brieske a second straight win. In 54.2 innings overall. the rookie has a 3.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 37:17 K:BB. He's lined up for a road start in Boston next week.
JUNE 17, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up first win Brieske (1-5) earned a win against Toronto on Saturday, allowing no runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking none in 5.2 innings.
Impact Brieske earned his first win of the year Saturday, throwing 56 of 89 pitches for strikes. It was his first game of the season where he did not allow either a walk or an earned run. The young righty has steadily improved his ERA over the last three games, as it now sits at 4.34 thanks to a 1.54 ERA in two June appearances. He'll look to keep things going in the right direction in his next appearance.

Best start of MLB career Brieske (0-5) gave up two earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings Saturday against the Yankees. He took the loss.
Impact This was a very good performance by Brieske, especially considering the offense he was up against, but he got no run support. Saturday was Brieske's best statistical start of his big-league career, and the average velocity on all of his pitches spiked compared to his season averages. He sat 94.6 mph with his fastball (94.2 mph season average) and touched 96 mph. Similarly, his changeup averaged a firmer 83.5 mph (81.1 mph season average). His next chance projects to come next weekend at home against the Blue Jays.

Records no-decision Monday Brieske allowed four runs on six hits across 5.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Monday's win over the Twins. He walked two and struck out four.
Impact Brieske is still searching for his first MLB win, as he's now 0-4 with three no-decisions across his first seven starts. The righty was done in by home runs, as he served up three long balls that accounted for all the runs against him. It was the fourth time he's allowed multiple homers in a start, which is a trend Brieske will need to stop if he hopes to lower his 5.25 ERA. The rookie will again seek his first career win in his next scheduled start, which is slated to be a tough matchup with the Yankees on the road Saturday.
MAY 30, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Loses again Tuesday Brieske (0-4) allowed two runs on six hits across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins. He walked one and struck out three.
Impact Brieske pitched OK, though he needed 90 pitches to get through four innings, so he wasn't able to go very deep in the contest. He was also outdueled by Sonny Gray, who tossed seven shutout innings, and the Tigers fell 2-0 with just five hits as a team. Brieske at least bounced back after allowing two long balls and six runs in his last start, but his first MLB win remains elusive. The rookie will carry a 5.04 ERA into his next scheduled start Sunday against the Guardians.
MAY 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Has first rough outing Brieske (0-3) allowed six runs on nine hits across 5.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Rays. He walked one and struck out four.
Impact Coming into Tuesday, Brieske had allowed no more than three runs in any of his four starts while going five or more innings each time. He reached the five-inning mark again in his fifth start, but the righty was hit around a bit for the first time in his young MLB career. Home runs continued to be a bit of an issue for Brieske, as he allowed multiple long balls for the third time already in his rookie campaign. The 24-year-old may have more tough outings ahead if he can't keep the ball in the park. Brieske will carry a 5.13 ERA into his next scheduled start Sunday against the Guardians.
MAY 18, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Logs quality start Thursday Brieske allowed three runs (two earned) across six innings and did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Athletics. He walked three and struck out two.
Impact Brieske pitched reasonably well for the fourth straight time to begin his rookie campaign, though he has two losses and two no-decisions to show for it. The righty went exactly five innings in each of his previous three starts, so this was a new high-water mark for innings. Brieske has also allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his four outings, which has propelled him to a solid 3.86 ERA for the season. The 24-year-old will look to keep it up and maybe earn his first MLB win in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Rays.
