Contract selected by Orioles Wynns' contract was selected by the Orioles on Monday.

Impact Wynns was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk in December but will now be available to make his first appearance in the majors since 2019. The 30-year-old has appeared in 15 minor-league games to begin the year and has slashed .333/.448/.563 with three home runs and nine RBI. He should serve as the backup to Pedro Severino after Chance Sisco was sent down as part of a corresponding move.

Cast off 40-man roster The Orioles outrighted Wynns off their 40-man roster Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact None of MLB's other 29 teams put in a claim for Wynns after he was exposed to waivers, so he'll remain in the Orioles organization as a non-roster player for the time being. The soon-to-be 30-year-old catcher has seen scant action at the big-league level, appearing in 60 career games while slashing .239/.271/.339 in 192 plate appearances.

Battling triceps soreness Sisco has been battling triceps soreness but faced live pitching Tuesday and could be ready for Opening Day, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Impact The 25-year-old is expected to split time with Pedro Severino and Austin Wynns behind the plate this season, provided he's healthy. He hit a respectable enough (for a catcher) .210/.333/.395 with eight homers in 198 plate appearances last season.
