Notches rare steal Wynns went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 6-3 win over Toronto.

Impact The last time the catcher stole a base was in 2017 with Double-A Bowie, so it's not like he's a significant speed threat. Wynns hasn't been able to do much with the bat at the major-league level this year, posting a .178/.235/.271 slash line with two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in 116 plate appearances. He's gotten on base in five straight games, going 3-for-15 with three walks in that span, but he'll remain in a backup role to primary catcher Pedro Severino.

The backup catcher has gone just 4-for-21 in seven games since the All-Star break, although three of those hits have been doubles. Cast off 40-man roster The Orioles outrighted Wynns off their 40-man roster Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact None of MLB's other 29 teams put in a claim for Wynns after he was exposed to waivers, so he'll remain in the Orioles organization as a non-roster player for the time being. The soon-to-be 30-year-old catcher has seen scant action at the big-league level, appearing in 60 career games while slashing .239/.271/.339 in 192 plate appearances.
