Ian Hamilton - Rejoins big-league bullpen
Atlanta selected Hamilton's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Impact
Hamilton was knocked around for three runs over an inning of work in his lone appearance for Atlanta earlier this season. He's been much better at Gwinnett, however, with a 3.18 ERA and 28:6 K:BB over 22.2 innings. Hamilton will give the club a fresh bullpen arm.

Carlos Carrasco - Scrubbed from 40-man roster
Atlanta designated Carrasco for assignment Wednesday.
Impact
It's already the fifth time he's been designated for assignment this season. Carrasco has re-upped with Atlanta on the previous four occasions and will likely do so again. He's allowed six runs with a 6:1 K:BB over 14.2 innings in a mop-up role with the big club this season.

JR Ritchie - Sent back to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Ritchie to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Impact
Ritchie's second stint in the big leagues lasted two weeks, with the young righty posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB in 15 innings across two starts and one relief appearance. Due to off days Thursday and Monday, Atlanta should be able to get by with four starters in the short term before filling Ritchie's vacated spot in the rotation late next week. Hurston Waldrep has given up just one run in 7.2 innings over two starts for Gwinnett since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list earlier this month and could represent a logical choice to replace Ritchie in the big-league rotation.

Tyler Kinley - Back from injured list
Atlanta activated Kinley (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Impact
Kinley will skip a rehab assignment and rejoin the Atlanta bullpen following a two-week absence. The right-hander has posted a 3.18 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB across 28.1 relief innings this season.

Raisel Iglesias - Stuck with loss in 10th Tuesday
Iglesias (0-2) took the loss Tuesday as Atlanta fell 7-6 to the Padres, giving up an unearned run on two hits in the 10th inning. He struck out one.
Impact
The veteran closer was brought in to keep the game tied in the ninth inning and got the job done, but Iglesias couldn't prevent the phantom runner from scoring in the bottom of the 10th as Manny Machado lined a single up the middle on the first pitch he saw in the frame to bring home Jackson Merrill. Iglesias has been tagged for runs in three of his last four appearances, and over his last nine outings he's stumbled to a 3.72 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB in 9.2 innings. He has yet to blow a save this season, going 15-for-15, but the 36-year-old right-hander seems to be wearing down, and it will be tougher for manager Walt Weiss to find opportunities to give Iglesias some rest with Robert Suarez (forearm) not 100 percent right now.

AJ Smith-Shawver - Kicking off rehab stint Thursday
Smith-Shawver (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday at Atlanta's spring training facility in Florida, Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact
The 23-year-old right-hander is set to throw 35-40 pitches over two innings in a simulated game. Smith-Shawver is heading into the final stretch of his recovery from June 2025 Tommy John surgery, and he's on track to be an option for Atlanta's big-league rotation some time after the All-Star break. Over his first seven starts in 2025 prior to developing elbow trouble, Smith-Shawver had a 2.33 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB in 38.2 innings.

Danny Young - On rehab assignment
Young (elbow) walked and hit a batter but struck out three in a scoreless inning in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Columbus on Tuesday.
Impact
Young began a rehab assignment Saturday at the rookie-level Florida Complex League with a scoreless frame and followed that up with another scoreless outing as he moved up to Columbus. The left-hander is coming back from Tommy John surgery and is tracking toward a season debut around the All-Star break.

Robert Suarez - Nursing tight forearm
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said after Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Padres in 10 innings that Suarez wasn't available due to forearm tightness, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Const...
Impact
The injury explains why Atlanta didn't turn to Suarez as a setup man when the team held a one-run lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Suarez last pitched Friday, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings and 28 pitches in a win over the Brewers. Weiss downplayed any concern about Suarez's forearm issue, noting that the right-hander could be ready to return to his usual late-inning relief role in Wednesday's series finale.

Michael Harris II - Knocks three hits from leadoff spot
Harris went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to San Diego.
Impact
Harris was in the leadoff spot for the third time this season, all of which have come since June 10. He's had a couple of bouts of back tightness in June, but he's hit well this month when available, going 18-for-56 (.321) over his last 15 games. The outfielder is batting .310 with an .863 OPS, 14 home runs, four stolen bases, 42 RBI, 37 runs scored and 13 doubles through 72 contests this season.

Mauricio Dubón - Pops homer in loss
Dubon went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to San Diego.
Impact
Dubon has eight homers on the year, including five over 18 games in June. The utility man is batting .309 (21-for-68) this month while adding 14 RBI. For the season, he's hitting .264 with a .733 OPS, 43 RBI, 32 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples and a stolen base over 74 contests. Dubon is already knocking on the door of some career highs in counting stats, and he should have a good chance of matching or exceeding them if he continues to play regularly.

JR Ritchie - Middling performance Tuesday
Ritchie allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus San Diego on Tuesday.
Impact
Ritchie wasn't particularly good in this performance, though the seven strikeouts matched his season high. He was at least able to keep the ball down better after giving up three home runs in his last start against the Giants. Ritchie has a 4.87 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 37:25 K:BB through 40.2 innings over eight games (seven starts). Despite the underwhelming numbers, Atlanta needs him in the rotation while the team waits for Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach and AJ Smith-Shawver to return from their respective elbow injuries. Ritchie is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus St. Louis and could continue to start through July as long as he shows some promise.
