Derek Hill - Going through full workouts Hill (wrist) has been going through full baseball activities, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Impact Hill has been sidelined for the last two-plus weeks with a left wrist sprain but appears to have made significant progress. It seems likely that he will need some rehab games before returning, and he should be ready for game action soon.
MAY 5 ROTOWIRE
Javier Sanoja - Getting third straight start Sanoja will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact Sanoja finds himself in the lineup for the third game in a row and looks like he'll get the chance to serve as Miami's primary option at the keystone while Otto Lopez (ankle) is on the injured list. In his limited opportunities so far this season, Sanoja has slashed .290/.318/.387 across 67 plate appearances while providing one home run and one stolen base.
MAY 5 ROTOWIRE
Matt Mervis - Beginning Monday's game on bench Mervis is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact The Dodgers are opening the game with a left-handed pitcher (Jack Dreyer), so the left-handed-hitting Mervis will begin the contest on the bench. He could end up replacing Eric Wagaman at first base or Connor Norby at designated hitter once right-hander Ben Casparius enters the contest to serve as the Dodgers' bulk reliever.
MAY 5 ROTOWIRE
Agustín Ramírez - Getting day off Monday Ramirez is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Dodgers.
Impact Ramirez had been in the lineup for each of the previous nine tilts but will get a breather in Monday's series opener. Three of his last four starts have come at designated hitter, and he could be used as more of a DH moving forward with the Marlins carrying two other catchers on the roster in Liam Hicks and Nick Fortes. Fortes is behind the dish for Monday's game, while Connor Norby is in the DH slot.
MAY 5 ROTOWIRE
Jesús Sánchez - Returns to Marlins lineup Sanchez (back) will start in right field and bat cleanup in Monday's game versus the Dodgers.
Impact Sanchez hasn't played April 30 due to back tightness but is feeling well enough to give it a go in Monday's series opener. He's managed just a .599 OPS in 15 games since returning from an oblique strain.
MAY 5 ROTOWIRE
Xavier Edwards - Swipes eighth bag Edwards went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the A's.
Impact The shortstop swiped a bag for the second straight game, giving him eight steals in 10 attempts through 33 contests on the season. Edwards said early in spring training that he was aiming for 60 stolen bases this year, but he'll need to pick up his pace significantly to meet that goal. Getting on base more often would help -- after delivering a .328 batting average and .397 OBP in his breakout 2024, Edwards has seen those marks drop to .259 and .329 to begin the current campaign.
MAY 5 ROTOWIRE
Anthony Bender - Falters in high-leverage spot Bender (1-2) took the loss Sunday against the A's, giving up a run on two hits in an inning of relief. He struck out two.
Impact Entering a 2-2 tie to begin the ninth inning, Bender served up a one-out triple to rookie Nick Kurtz before Tyler Soderstrom ripped an RBI single back up the middle. Jesus Tinoco worked a scoreless seventh inning and Calvin Faucher a clean eighth, and while it's encouraging the manager Clayton McCullough held Bender back for a potential save situation in the ninth, the right-hander's performance of late hasn't warranted that trust. Bender's been tagged for a run in four of his last nine appearances, posting a 4.15 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB in 8.2 innings over that stretch with two losses and two blown saves against zero saves and just one hold.
