Impact Just two days after being optioned to Triple-A upon coming off the injured list, Frias will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for Andrew Knizner, who was claimed off waivers from Texas on Thursday. Frias has given up seven earned runs in just 6.1 innings in the big leagues this season and owns a 4.88 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 24 frames with Reno.

Andrew Knizner - Claimed by Snakes The Diamondbacks claimed Knizner off waivers from the Rangers on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Reno.

Impact Knizner was DFA'd by Texas on Tuesday after posting a .394 OPS in 93 big-league plate appearances. He'll now join the Diamondbacks organization and serve as an organizational depth piece at Triple-A Reno, though his chances of appearing in a game for Arizona are slim. Yilber Diaz - Goes on Triple-A IL Diaz was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Reno on Thursday with a blister on his right hand, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Impact Diaz is expected to miss just one start with the issue. The young right-hander held a solid 4.05 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB in 20 innings covering three starts for Arizona last month, but with Eduardo Rodriguez back and Merrill Kelly's (shoulder) return imminent, Diaz probably wasn't going to be back in the majors anytime soon even if he was healthy.
