Brooks Baldwin - Option for starts at shortstop Baldwin is among the candidates to see starts at shortstop for the White Sox, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Impact Colson Montgomery and Chase Meidroth are back in the minors, leaving Baldwin, Jacob Amaya and non-roster invitees Nick Maton and Tristan Gray as candidates at shortstop in what will be a "mix and matching" situation, per manager Will Venable. Amaya is probably the favorite to see the bulk of the time at shortstop based on his defensive prowess. Baldwin, meanwhile, operated in a utility role during spring training and could continue to bounce around all over the field for the Southsiders.

Jacob Amaya - In mix for starts at shortstop Amaya is among those in the mix for starts at shortstop for the White Sox, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Impact Manager Will Venable said that he will "probably be mix and matching" at shortstop, adding that Amaya is "obviously a great defender." Amaya has slashed only .182/.222/.195 in limited chances at the big-league level. Brooks Baldwin and non-roster invitees Nick Maton and Tristan Gray are also in the mix for starts at shortstop.

Matt Thaiss - Makes Opening Day roster The White Sox informed Thaiss on Monday that he'll be included on the Opening Day roster, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Impact Thaiss will likely open the season as the No. 2 catcher behind incumbent Korey Lee after posting an .892 OPS across 12 Cactus League games. Thaiss and Lee may not be ticketed for season-long stays on the active roster, however, as catching prospects Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero will open the campaign at Triple-A Charlotte but should be ready to make their MLB debuts at some point later in 2025.

Omar Narváez - Misses out on Opening Day roster The White Sox informed Narvaez on Monday that he won't be included on the Opening Day roster, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Impact Chicago will begin the season with Korey Lee and Matt Thaiss as its two catchers. Narvaez, who had been attending camp as a non-roster invitee, will likely report to Triple-A Charlotte if the White Sox don't choose to release him. Narvaez is coming off a rough 2024 season in which he slashed just .154/.191/.185 over 69 plate appearances with the Mets before he was cut loose in June.
