Impact Kay had given up six runs on seven hits (including two homers) in his previous start at Philadelphia, but he bounced back admirably against one of the best offenses in all of baseball. That outing against the Phillies was an outlier, though, as Kay has given up two earned runs or fewer in all but one of his last eight starts (41.1 innings), posting a 3.27 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over that stretch. Kay is slated to make his next start on the road against the Yankees.

Impact Kay was set to start Thursday's series finale against Atlanta, but he will now likely take the mound in Friday's series opener against the Dodgers. The left-hander is coming off of a disappointing outing against the Phillies on June 5, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters over four innings. Unfortunately for him and fantasy managers alike, Los Angeles is by no means an easy matchup.

Impact The left-hander was taken off the hook for a loss when the White Sox tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the seventh inning, but Kay still stumbled to one of his worst starts of the season, with homers by Brandon Marsh in the second inning and Adolis Garcia in the fourth accounting for a big part of the damage off him. Kay will take a 4.40 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 46:26 K:BB through 61.1 innings into his next outing, which is set to come at home next week against Atlanta.

Impact Kay's lone blemish was a solo homer allowed to Brooks Lee on just his fourth pitch of the game. After entering May with a 6.12 ERA, Kay has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all five starts this month and has posted his two quality starts of 2026 over his last three outings. Impact Kay gave up a run in the first inning but then tossed five straight scoreless frames. He departed after giving up a leadoff triple in the seventh, and though that runner eventually came around to score, Kay ended with both a quality start and a victory. The southpaw has shown improvement on the mound of late -- after failing to complete five innings in five of his first six starts and posting a 6.12 ERA over that span, he's tossed at least five frames in each of his past three starts and has given up just four earned runs while notching a 14:5 K:BB across 16 innings during that stretch.
