Prior to Wednesday, Nardi recorded six holds in his last 14 outings with a 3.29 ERA and 0.95 WHIP across 13.2 innings. Miami recalled right-hander George Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Impact The southpaw was considered the favorite to take over closing duties for the Marlins after Tanner Scott was traded to the Padres, but instead manager Skip Schumaker called on Nardi in the sixth inning Wednesday to protect a 4-2 lead.
