Collects fourth hold Nardi struck out two in 1.1 perfect innings of relief Monday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Royals.

Impact The 24-year-old southpaw is quietly having a breakout campaign in the Miami bullpen. Nardi hasn't given up an earned run since the beginning of May, a stretch that features an 18:4 K:BB through 14.2 innings. All four of his holds have come in his last 10 appearances, but his climb toward higher-leverage work has also coincided with an injured list stint for A.J. Puk (elbow). With Tanner Scott and Steven Okert also ahead of Nardi on the depth chart from the left side, it could be tough for him to maintain any fantasy value. That could also make him an intriguing trade chip later in the summer, however.

Picks up rare save Nardi pitched a clean inning and struck out a batter to record the save in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Cubs

Impact Nardi wound up with the first save of his career after the game got to the 14th inning. He needed just 11 pitches to send down the Cubs in order and has now recorded three consecutive scoreless innings outings while racking up five strikeouts in 3.1 innings over that span. The 24-year-old usually holds down a middle relief role and won't see many save chances going forward. He has a 4.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB over 15.2 innings.

Appears set for bullpen role Nardi appears to be on track for a spot on the Opening Day roster, Jordan McPherson of The Miami Herald reports.

Impact The 24-year-old lefty is one of the last 13 pitchers remaining in camp with the Marlins. Nardi made his big-league debut in a low-leverage role last season but stumbled to a 9.82 ERA and 2.66 WHIP over 14.2 innings. He'll likely handle middle innings and long-relief situations again as the third southpaw in the bullpen behind A.J. Puk and Tanner Scott.

Added to Miami roster Nardi's contract was selected by the Marlins on Sunday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Nardi has shined this season at both the Double-A and Triple-A levels, so the Marlins will give him a shot to show what he can do in the big league. Nardi racked up seven saves over 24 Triple-A appearances, so there's a chance he could work his way into Miami's late-inning mix.
