Undergoes successful surgery
Kirilloff underwent successful surgery on his right wrist Friday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Kirilloff's procedure didn't reveal anything concerning, and he'll head to Florida soon to begin his recovery process. The 23-year-old is expected to require eight weeks of rehab after his procedure, meaning he would miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

Out for season
Kirilloff is expected to require eight weeks of rehab after undergoing surgery on his right wrist later this week and won't retake the field for the Twins this season, Betsy Helfan...
Impact
The 23-year-old landed on the injured list Wednesday and will see his rookie campaign come to an early end. Kirilloff sprained the wrist back in May, and he'll undergo a procedure to repair the torn ligament after a recent dip in productivity. He could rejoin the Twins for the final stretch of the season to finish his rehab and be around the team, but he won't return to game action in 2021. Kirilloff will finish his rookie campaign with a .251/.299/.423 slash line, eight home runs, 11 doubles, 34 RBI and 23 runs in 231 plate appearances.

Out after wrist surgery
The Twins will place Kirilloff on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. He's scheduled to undergo surgery later this week to address a ligament tear...
Impact
Kirilloff sprained the wrist in May and was able to play through the issue after a brief stint on the IL, but after his productivity had started to wane over the past two weeks, he chose to have a corrective procedure. The Twins likely won't have a timeline for Kirilloff's return until after surgery is performed, but he could be at risk of missing the remainder of the season. Minnesota will call up Willians Astudillo from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move.

Sitting Tuesday
Kirilloff is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.
Impact
After he was on the bench for one half of Monday's doubleheader, Kirilloff will take a seat again in favor of Miguel Sano. The rookie is a 1-for-15 slump over his past five games, but his .722 OPS on the season and the Twins' status as a non-contender should give him a decent amount of job security moving forward.

Sits for first game of twin bill
Kirilloff is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the White Sox.
Impact
Miguel Sano will get the nod at first base in place of Kirilloff, ending a streak of six consecutive starts for the rookie. Expect Kirilloff -- who is hitting .245 with two home runs and seven RBI through 13 games in July -- to re-enter the lineup for the second game of the twin bill.

Retreats to bench
Kirilloff isn't starting Saturday against Cleveland.

Smacks sixth homer
Kirilloff went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-7 win over Cleveland.
Impact
The 23-year-old gave Minnesota its first lead of the game with his third-inning homer. Kirilloff is slashing .260/.303/.442 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 16 runs scored and a stolen base across 165 plate appearances. He seems to be manager Rocco Baldelli's preferred option at first base versus right-handed pitchers, while Miguel Sano is more likely to draw in against southpaws.

Swipes first bag in majors
Kirilloff went 2-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Reds.
Impact
The steal was his first in 39 big-league games, not surprising for a player with a career high of seven (on 13 attempts) in the minors. Kirilloff has picked up his pace a bit at the plate in June, slashing .288/.354/.407 through 17 contests, but as yet the 23-year-old hasn't met expectations.

Heads to bench
Kiriloff is not starting Saturday against Texas.
Impact
Kiriloff isn't necessarily at risk of slipping into a true bench role, but the returns of Max Kepler (hamstring) and Byron Buxton (hip) over the last two days can't help but make the Twins' outfield considerably more crowded. Kepler, Buxton and Trevor Larnach will be the outfielders Saturday.
